A simple question - who believes in them and who doesn't?

I'd like to consider myself rational - I don't believe in ghosts, aliens, monsters, werewolves, vampires - or rather, I believe that there's a rational explanation behind each one.

But guardian angels... I'll confess - I had a very unusual dream once that changed my outlook on a lot of things forever.

I once had a friend who claimed that he was a white witch, and he said that everyone had a guardian angel, and that everyone's guardian angel was the opposite to them. For example, if you're male you'll have a female guardian angel and vice versa. If you're a clown you'll have quite a sensible guardian angel. If you're quite feminine in your ways (regardless of whether you're m or f), you'll have an angel that's quite masculine in theirs. etc. etc. etc.

It certainly rung true for me.

Or maybe I'm just being hyper-imaginative.

Does anyone else have an opinion about this?

I'm like you, for some reason angels appeal to me, I draw them, collect them....I think it's the wings that do it for me.

I'm a closet Touched by An Angel fan........there it's out!!!

What's Touched by an Angel?

Yup. I totally believe I have a guardian angel. I believe everyone has. Mine's saved my arse more times than I'd like toremember really.

It was a TV show here, every week these angels would go out on a mission and help some poor bastard. It made you feel warm and fuzzy, which I normally reject, but it held me in it's well written clutches.

I think I remember it, actually. They used to show it on a Sunday and at first I avoided it because I thought it was a religious programme. But it was actually quite good, if I remember rightly.

Yes it was. I wanted Tess's caddy in the worst way.

I've always wanted wings and thinking back I had a dream where I was an angel and had huge fabulous wings.

Really, EL? Wow! Can you give us any examples? My arse usually gets saved when I forget something and have to double back for it. It usually turns out that if I'd driven away a couple of minutes earlier, I would have been involved in some accident. As it is, I just get stuck with the traffic jams following it. I guess it's something my guardian angel needs to work on ;)

I find guardian angels everywhere, lots of them, ordinary people doing ordinary things who remind me of what's important.

Sometimes it's even my cat, when she's insistently meowing for attention in my office, reminding me to take a play break. Or when she's rolling and stretching on the floor, reminding me to do some yoga.

That's a really sweet thought, LJ. I'll remember that one! Thanks!

Yes, I believe, but not in the way I think you mean, even though it's sort of the same thing. Abs knows what I'm talking about - she and I have discussed this on more than one occasion.

I have seven, and I know them all intimately. They are wise, and always there, even though I sometimes forget it.

One memorable time was a few years ago. Mum was driving myself, my sister and Nanna to scarborough on holiday. She always goes down the back route (hates motorways) and this time we'd taken aslightly different route. We came to a strange junction and when mum got to the otherside it became apparent that she was on the wrong side of a duel carriageway!

Luckily someone beeped us (we never saw the vehicle just heard the beep) and mum pulled us over on tothe right side of the road. seconds later a MASSIVE lorry rolled down the other side of the road where we'd just been.

I loved that! I've not seen it on TV over here for years...

Well if we all have guardian angels, what happens to the people who don't get saved? The ones who die in accidents and stuff like that? Are their angles asleep at the switch or what? Does God pull them off the case because this guy's number is up or what?

Or did they decide it was time to ditch this loser?

That all sounds very mysterious, Cloudy! I think I just have the one. Are yours male or female?

Angels can't be there all the time. They need to sleep too! :p

Neither. :D

I know it's sounds very mysterious, but it isn't, not really. They are guides, love.

As harsh as it sounds, maybe their time IS up.

On another note - City of Angels. Love the film. Makes me cry. I'm a sucker for the Angel becoming human thing though. One of my first ever stories was along that theme. It was all written on paper when i was about 14. I don't think I have it any more :(

Do they all guide different areas of your life?

Sort of, yes.

They are in the different directions: north, south, east, west, above, below, and inner. Each symbolizes a certain aspect of yourself, and each is there to help with that area. For instance, the one on your left symbolizes the feminine - the healer; the one on your right symbolizes the masculine - the warrior. No matter your gender, we all have both inside.

Maybe Atropos decided to cut the string.

I just wanted Gabriel. I know, I am probably going to hell for lusting after an angel, but I will most likely have good company there!
