Grrr. Firefox

I never thought I'd complain about Firefox, but I must. It's driving me batty. I recently upgraded to version 1.5 and maybe it's just me, but it seems all glitchy. If I click the back button, it almost always goes back at least two pages, which is fine if it happens once, but when it happens everytime, it gets annoying. Plus, the highlighting feature (especially on the web address bar) doesn't seem to be working right so I'm having to manually backspace to delete so I can type in a new address. Oh! And occasionally, upon clicking the back button, I go completely off my page and to the firefox homepage. WTF is that about?
Anyone else experiencing this? And more importantly, anyone know how to fix it?

I had the same problem with Firefox, after upgrading it just went bonkers. When I got through un-installing and re-installing versions it was still fusterclucked. I liked it but found Avant, which is great.

What I did was install Avant and Opera and Firefox and play with each one a little bit each time I was on the computer. You know, arranging toolbars and checking options and stuff. I found that Opera is fast, but not what I wanted, and Avant had all the features I liked about Firefox plus some extras.

I gave them all a chance, then un-installed all except Avant.

Your preferences may be different, but since they are all free and small downloads and easy to install, its easy to check them out.

Google is your friend, and has links to all.

You don't have a hardware or registry glitch if you only have problems with Firefox, which is what I had.

:) :)

here's a link to the Firefox problem diagnostics page.. maybe things here will help you figure out what's going on..
Firefox diagnostics
if you do uninstall /reinstall follow the dirction under the: Do a fresh install section

Question for Opera users:
Until I used Opera, holding my cursor over a thread title gave me a preview of the thread. With Opera, what shows up is the link address. Is there a way to get it to show the preview instead?

It works for me fine...well it's a little different than IE but there is nothing or should be nothing to setup.

Each thread is defined between a set of lines with the link(s) centered. Placing your cursor above or below the link but still within the boarders will popup a little ballon with what the thread is about along with displaying the info on the bottom of the window.

Nope. For some reason, with Opera all that shows is the "address" no matter where my cursor sits. Firefox and IE both show the thread balloon.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back, had to step out...

The two pics below show you where to place the cusor to see the bubble windows.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the pics. But nope, nothing at all shows up in those spots. I wonder if I have some weird setting not quite right, or if my computer just hates me.

I don't know darlin'. If I could see the thing in person I could probably fix it for you. But alas the distance will keep us apart, unless you happen to live the Greater Chicago Metro Area!

Oh wait! I think it's working now. Thanks. :)
I love Chicago, btw.
