Ground Zero Mosque Imam a Deadbeat Slumlord: 'All He Likes Is Money'

These Ground Zero Mosque developers are sure looking good these days. On one hand we have a guy who's been arrested at least seven times and who owes New York City $224,000 in back taxes. Now we find out the "spiritual leader" traipsing around the world on our dime raising money for this abomination is a slumlord, according to tenants of his apartments in New Jersey.

Is it any wonder Michael Bloomberg and Barack Obama loves this guy? He sounds like a typical liberal.

He's the religious leader of the planned, controversial Ground Zero mosque -- but across the Hudson, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is known as an alleged slumlord.

At buildings in Union City and Palisades Park, where Rauf reportedly got tax dollars to renovate low-income apartments, tenants yesterday said their gripes about their lousy housing conditions have been ignored.

"Why doesn't he help the tenants he has before he builds a new place, claiming he wants to help people?" said a disgusted Jamie Barillas, who lives in a Rauf-owned apartment at 2206 Central Ave. in Union City.

"Nothing gets done. We have to go through City Hall to get things done. . . . He doesn't care about his tenants," she said.

Barillas said that bedbugs plague the building -- but that when she tried to get building managers to respond, they claimed they didn't have the money to hire an exterminator.

Tenant Vilma Then chided Rauf as greedy.

"All he likes is money," she said. "Nothing ever gets fixed. I complain to the super, and all he says is that he has the same problem."

Vilma Then said she lived at Rauf's building around the corner until a fire forced her to move to 2206 Central Ave. She said her current situation is similar to her old digs, where she had a stove that was more like "a roach den."

She also complained that Rauf's wife, Daisy Khan -- who has been the imam's spokesperson while he is touring overseas -- "listens to what you have to say and writes things down and leaves -- and nothing gets done."

"She gives nothing but false promises," the resident said.

The Record newspaper of Hackensack reported that Rauf won taxpayer-funded support for his New Jersey buildings from powerful politicians in the state, including Sen. Bob Menendez when he was the mayor of Union City.

The projects were plagued by financial problems as well as tenant complaints, the paper said.

A spokesman for Menendez said the senator did not have a close working relationship with Rauf.

Sure, Bob, run and hide. What a man.

Cynthia Balko, 48, of Union City — a longtime tenant of Rauf’s — said she’s had to live with rats, leaks and no heat: “I don’t have anything nice to say about the man.”

She finds it hard to believe Rauf’s going to build a world-class Islamic community center, with fitness facilities, auditorium, restaurant, library, culinary school and art studios, as well as a Sept. 11 memorial and space for Muslim prayer services.

“He can’t even repair the bells in the hallway. He doesn’t take care of his properties. But he’s going to take care of a mosque?”

Gee

DICK DAILY is worried that Beck and RL's audience buys SNAKE OIL

IZZY WORRIED ABOUT THIS?

Ground Zero Mosque Developer: “I Don’t Hold Islam Accountable for 9/11 Attacks”…

And that’s the problem, too many Muslims are unwilling to confront their religion…

(CBS News)- Sharif El-Gamal, the developer behind the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque,” told CBS News’ Scott Pelley that it never crossed his mind that the location of the project was too close to the site of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Asked why not, he replied, “Because I did not hold myself or my faith accountable for that tragedy.”

In an interview airing tonight on the CBS “Evening News” and later on “60 Minutes,” El-Gamal discussed the uproar over Park 51, the proposed Islamic cultural center two blocks from the former site of the World Trade Center.

El-Gamal describes himself as “an American, a New Yorker, born in Methodist Hospital Brooklyn, to a Polish Catholic mother and an Egyptian father.”

Ground Zero Mosque Imam: “U.S. Response to 9/11 Could Be Considered Jihad”…

Yes, he’s still a “moderate”…

Via Newsbusters

….Bridge-building imam Feisal Abdul Rauf was giving a crash course in Islam for FBI agents in March of 2003. When asked to clarify such terminology as ‘jihad’ and ‘fatwa’, Rauf stated (emphasis mine throughout):

“Jihad can mean holy war to extremists, but it means struggle to the average Muslim. Fatwah has been interpreted to mean a religious mandate approving violence, but is merely a recommendation by a religious leader. Rauf noted that the U.S. response to the Sept. 11 attacks could be considered a jihad, and pointed out that a renowned Islamic scholar had issued a fatwah advising Muslims in the U.S. military it was okay to fight the Taliban in Afghanistan.”

The renowned Islamic scholar that Rauf is referring to is Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi. In a New York Times article one month after 9/11, Rauf was quoted as saying:

“This fatwa is very significant. Yusuf Qaradawi is probably the most well-known legal authority in the whole Muslim world today.”

Question is, was that hollow fatwa (a hotwa as it were) more significant than Qaradawi’s proclamation on Al Jazeera two weeks earlier? Qaradawi stated:

“A Muslim is forbidden from entering into an alliance with a non-Muslim against another Muslim.” He called on Muslims to “fight the American military if we can, and if we cannot, we should fight the U.S. economically and politically.”

Qaradawi elaborated on that non-fatwa fatwa in 2004 when he said of American troops:

“…all of the Americans in Iraq are combatants, there is no difference between civilians and soldiers, and one should fight them, since the American civilians came to Iraq in order to serve the occupation. The abduction and killing of Americans in Iraq is a [religious] obligation so as to cause them to leave Iraq immediately. The mutilation of corpses [however] is forbidden in Islam.”

Come on, let's be fair here...

...all those "slumlord" tenants could be conservatives, ya know.

Isn't it funny how the most passionate defenders on the Left will be the first to be weeded out?

I used to think it was funny to say they had a mental illness, but now I think it's true...

And while the Lefty Infidels are being beheaded, the Moderate Muslims will STILL be smart enough to keep their heads down and their mouths shut...

Ground Zero Mosque Imam Got Huge Tax Break by Claiming Small Apartment Was Used as Mosque by 500 People to Pray Five Time a Day…

Shady…

The leader of the Ground Zero mosque got hugely valuable tax-exempt status for a Muslim organization he founded after claiming as many as 500 of its members prayed daily in a small, one-bedroom Upper West Side apartment also listed as his wife’s residence, The Post has learned.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf sought “church status” — an official IRS term for a house of worship of any religion — for the American Sufi Muslim Association, or ASMA, in 1998. The feds granted the request.

“Church status” is more than just an exemption — it means never having to pay taxes, file returns or reveal the sources of a congregation’s money or how it’s spent, according to the Washington-based Investigative Project on Terrorism, which discovered the group’s startling claims on the IRS form it filed seeking the special status.

On that form, the organization said it held services at 201 W. 85th St.

That’s a 17-story apartment building with no public space big enough to accommodate the 450 to 500 worshippers the group claimed regularly showed up five times a day to pray.
