"I'm sure mum and dad didn't have to put up with this crap" I grimaced as I swerved to avoid a car which had been thrown at me - what was I? A human dartboard?

"Hey, Spitshine! You missed!"

The aforementioned 'Spitshine' that was in-fact Medaspat, an Alien lord from a different dimension. He was an old foe of mine, having also faced my parents team, on many different occasions. Hell, he was seen by many as a joke!

Albeit a joke with Super Strength, Telekinesis and super advanced technology.

I will admit that it's times like this that I wish 'Ground Zero', the team of which my parents were founding members, was still around...

But here I was. Again. Trying to stop Medaspat from opening a Dimensional rip to let his master and the rest of his army into our world. This was new, even for him, and I will admit it, I was scared that he may succeed.

You see, his Nuetronic decelerator and V5-88 Dimensional String Viewer looked very very foreboding.

True, it also looked awesome, but I'm a Geek, so sue me.

Something had to be done, and thankfully, my Bracer's were fully charged.

What happened next came to me in the same way you tense a muscle, but it also doesn't happen like that.

You see... I shrunk. I'd go into the details oh how, but now would not be the best time...

I got close, Medaspat hadn't even realised that i'd vanished, and so I aimed...

Oww.

I take that back. He had realised. He turned to me, grinning and now I saw why...

The air began to tear.

Pulling myself to normal size I felt what happened next.

It tore open. The fabric of our reality tore open.

Force hit me like an explosion happened, and the buildings around us crumbled. As I felt myself thrown back, I saw an even scarier image.

Medaspat's army had arrived...

Mike Roberts

Mike was sitting in a seat inside the "Wenchester", a bar he frequently attended. He hide himself in a corner so as to avoid the starring eyes of the other patrons.

He looked at his hand and noticed small black trails of smoke were emenating from his pale skin. He closed his eyes and cursed himself. He hadn`t full managed to keep his anti-matterial faorm under check.

He smiled at himself as he thought of his past.

"White sticks out like a sore thumb, Anthony."

I stepped out of the shadows. No sense hiding when I've been seen. "What are you doing here Kerexx?" I clenched my fist. This isn't a fight I want to have right now. "I told you last time I kicked your ass that I wouldn't stop at broken bones."

"Thats a lot of talk coming from the White Rose." Kerexx chuckled to himself. "Weren't you told to quit by the president himself? I'd hate for you defy a presidential order..."

I closed the gap between myself and Kerexx. I looked up into his eyes. Being short doesn't help with intimidation, but what I lack in size, I more than make up for in the ability to kick an ass. "I don't think you quite know me then. I'm not in the mood tonight. Go home and stay there. You don't want to know what will happen if you don't."

Kerexx quickly grasped my throat. His grip was strong as usual. Not that it mattered. "Listen here, Rose. You're not a threat to me. How about you go home, and let me do what I want?" He leaned in close and whispered in my ear, "Maybe I'll have my way with your little girlfriend... Whats her name..? Oh, Elizabeth.. Thats right. Maybe I'll show her what a real man will do... Before I kill her that is."

"You know, Kerexx... I've missed our little chats. You're far too long winded for your own good." I swiftly took Kerexx's elbow in my hands. "Did you know that when you're lifting me up, your veins are strained from my weight?" I started to dig a finger into his skin... "And did you know that a human body bleeds out quickly if you sever a major artery?" I quickly thrust my finger into his arm and pulled on the first vein available.

Kerexx screamed in pain. "You bastard!" He swung at me with his good arm. I quickly ducked, and brought my knee into the back of his, dropping him down to the ground.

I sat on Kerexx's chest with my knees firmly planted in his arm pits. "Did you also know that with your knees in someone's arm pits, they can't swing at you properly? The most they can do is lightly thump you on the legs or lower back."

"Did you know.. You just pulled a vein? Not an artery? I'll be fine."

"Did you know, I'm not finished?" I plunged my hand into his neck, and pulled his Carotid Artery. "Keep on threatening people, and see how far that gets you." I stood up and looked at myself. Blood was everywhere. Just what I needed tonight. I walked away, into the darkness, Kerexx's body laying in the middle of the dimly lit alley. He was already dead. Between the two vessels I severed, there was too much blood lost.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better night.

I got up and decided to leave the Wenchester. I waved goodbye to some of the fellow patrons and walked outside into the cold night. I inhaled a deep breath and smiled, then turned down the street when suddenly I bumped into a man in a white suit.

I began to say sorry, when I noticed that he was covered in blood. "Wow, buddy are you alright?"

I stood on the roof enjoying the cool night air when I felt a tremble, not only through the earth but also through the air. I sighed.

They never take a break do they? Really...this is supposed to be my night off.

I set my half empty tea bottle down on the air conditioning unit and stripped my outer layer of clothing off. I was 'on call' so often these days that I rarely bothered to change out of my uniform anymore.
Like I hadn't already been made aware of something strange going on my cell rang. I just rolled my eyes and silenced my phone.

Yeah, yeah, I already know, I'm on my way...

I left my cell with my pile of neatly folded clothing and did a somersault right off the roof free falling for just a moment before I stopped myself. I floated up high enough to be able to get a good 360 degree view of the city from where I was. After a few minutes of scanning I spotted the disturbance.

Just what have they gone and done now? Stupid idiots never learn not to mess with stuff they're not smart enough to comprehend.

It took me little time to get and I was actually shocked by what I found. Ruined buildings, people running around like chickens with their heads cut off and did I forget to mention the huge rift opening up right in the middle of the street?
In the middle of all this chaos I spotted only one person not running for his life as strange creatures started vying for their chance to come through the rift. The only possible reason he could have for just standing there was that he, like me, probably had some special ability and thought he could do something. Hopefully he wasn't just another wanna be super hero trying to act cool for some chick hiding around the corner or something...

Why is it always me who has to deal with crazy things like this? Really why can't it ever just be some moron trying to light something on fire?!

After bumping into a strange man, I stopped when he asked me if I was alright. I eyed him up and down for a minute before saying "Just taking out the trash. Nothing more." I turned to leave and thought about my fastest route home. The blood stained white suit sticks out even worse than a white suite. This won't end well if I don't keep my head on straight and get home quickly.

His hasty departure left me wondering what he was up to. I collapsed upon myself and turned into my smoke form. I followed him while staying to the shadows looking nothing more than a faint trail of smog.

He went on for some distance and I silently followed eager to see what he was up to.

Gabriel Melda

"IT how can I help?"

Gabriel listened to the customer then replied with the tried and trusted formula

"Have you tried switching the box off and then on again? You have? And you say it just keeps hanging? Well it seems like your Operating System has a problem or you have a virus. IF you put the OS CD into the DVD drive, when you reboot the PC, you should get an option to run from the CD..."

Gabriel kept on explaining how to do a fix on the Operating System, he hoped that it wasn't a virus, he was not in the mood to go out, three minutes before his shift ended. Of course the client had to be led by the hand and Gabriel suppressed a sigh as he ran through the process again with the client, leading him step by step. Half an hour later the client gave a jubilant cry over the phone as his PC lived once again. Gabriel thanked the client for phoning, recorded the number and address and logged out. It was time to go home. He got up and stretched out

"Hey Gabe, working late hours again?"

Gabriel shrugged

"You know how it is, taking them all by the hand and leading them to salvation"

He chuckled and then clocked out, heading out of the office.

Closer to home, I started to scout out the area, making sure I wasn't followed.

Nobody. Good.

About a block from my apartment, I climbed up the usual fire escape to the roof tops. No sense walking in the front door with blood all over me. They may know my name, they may know where I live, but they don't need to know my every move.

As I approached the rooftop, I felt something weird. It felt like a harsh, cutting wind... Like something evil was coming. I sprinted across the roof tops near where the wind was coming, leaping from rooftop to rooftop. As I neared the source, I saw this ominous purple glow.

Buildings that stood for more than 200 years in this city crumbling like they were made of sand.

"What is going on here...?" I muttered to myself. I stopped and looked back at the city behind me. Everything was normal. Almost. I noticed a darkness that was out of place against the glowing.

"Who is there?" I yelled to the darkness, planting my feet firmly in the ground. "I've already filled my quota of kicking an ass for the night, I don't want to have to put in overtime."

Mike Roberts

He had noticed me, or sensed me, either wy I knew I might as well reveal myself.

I rushed forward and grew to my maximum size, that of a school bus, and hovered directly in front of him. I had no shape while in this form, I usually look like a cloud. I made a rumbling and crackling noise as I surrounded him in a black fog.

I reached into his mind and sent images; him, then the man, him beating up the man, the man covered in blood, him covered in blood, then the dead body. I was basically asking why he had killed the man, but I couldn`t speak in my current form.

After a few minutes, I retreated and hovered back in front of him. Then I reverted back to my human form. As soon as I was my human self, I walked up to him and spoke "I`m sorry you had to see me like that, I had to jidge you."

The darkness started to envelop me as it grew larger. I could feel it as if it were an extension of my body. Like it was becoming part of me. My memories were flashing back to me of when I killed Kerexx. The fog withdrew and formed a human shape before materializing into the man I bumped into on my way home.

"I've got bigger things to deal with. If you're here to fight me, take a number." I turned around and faced the buildings crumbling. "People need me. I have to get any civilians out of there."

I turned back around and saw his face. He looked worried.

"You were in my mind. Thats what you were doing to me." I walked up close to him, face to face. I thrust my hand out to him, to shake his hand. "I had to kill him. He has done far too many bad things to innocent people. The name's White Rose..." I looked down at my suit. White indeed. "On second thought, I might be more suited as Crimson Rose, if this keeps up."

Mike Roberts

I laughed at his joke, then introduced myself.

"The name`s Mike, Mike Roberts, and Once again I sorry for what I did but I had to make sure you weren`t a killer", then I looked at the crumbling building, "How about I make it up to you by helping you out?"

I sprinted off to the buildings. "How about we find out whats happening first." Darting from building to building, the roofs under my feet started to lose integrity the closer to the disturbance we got. As we got closer to the center, it felt like we were walking on sand.

I dove off of the building and rolled along the ground to break my fall. When I looked up, I saw what looked like a hole being ripped in reality itself. I saw a couple of guys fighting, one of them picking up a car and throwing it at the other.

"Mike... I think this is bigger than I thought."

As the White Rose raced off, I followed behind. He gestured to a scene of chaos and destruction where a huge... thing and it`s minions battled a guy who looked like a cross between a man and a flying insect.

I looked at the White Rose and said "Alright I`m going to get rid of the big guy`s minions. You help that bug boy with whatever it is he needs help with."

With that I shifted into my other fform and flew towards the creatures. Emitting an ear piercing shriek, that sounded like a subway train during an emergency stop, I barreled over th first group I ran into.

"Rodger." I yelled as I dove into the fray, watching bug boy get thrown to the ground with the force of the tear opening wider. I wrapped my arm around his shoulders and helped him to his feet, dragging him along with me to a safe distance.

"Hi, I'm White Rose." I said as we fled to a safe distance. Turning around and looking at the beasts pouring from the portals one after another in a seemingly endless invasion.

Gabriel Melda

When he came out of the building he felt that something was just way wrong. The car that flew past just confirmed that feeling and Gabriel knew he didn't have much time to get to the scene of what was causing such mayhem. He grabbed his gear from the bag he had over one shoulder and slipped into the narrow alleyway. Moments later he was on the roof and running across it towards the sound that was growing louder and louder. Stopping at a fair distance he looked in amazement as building started to crumble and fall the further the strange phenomenon moved

"Well I'll be a duck's uncle"

He jumped from the building, using a lamp post to slow his descent and then her ran closer to the other people or people and creatures that was at the center of it all. He came to a stop and shouted

"All right, who of you guys broke uhm..."

He pointed at the rift

"That? Come on now, daddy will not spank you too hard"

I had just got done tossing a few of the little vermin when I heard someone shout in a loud voice. Instantly alert to a new possible threat I zoomed over to a figure whom had just dropped down from the roof of a building. I wasn`t sure if he was a threat or not but I couldn`t investigate right now.
I charged into the huge alien-like being and knocked him back. I then proceeded to grab a minion who was charging after the newcomer, wrapped my tendrils of smoke around him, and shredded him up.
Making a low gutteral rumbling, I resumed my attack on the big guy, hoping to give the White Rose and Bugboy time to recover and prepare themselves.

Well this is certainly getting interesting! I thought to myself as I hovered over the chaos. It was certainly becoming a party. Three new contenders had entered the ring bringing the total number of 'heroes' to the five of us. Even if they turned out to be foes later on, at the moment we all had one common goal - closing the portal.

"Right then..." After a moment of searching through the chaos I spotted the machine responsible for the rift and headed to it. "Why can't these things ever be in English?" I said scanning the menu. All just gibberish to me, stupid alien technology!
"Well since I can't find the off button guess I'll just have to do things the fun way!" Before anyone could notice me there I reached inside the machine and started pulling stuff out. Wires and cords and other weird shaped stuff, I pulled out whatever i could get my hands on. After a few minutes the machine started the spew sparks and smoke. The menu suddenly changed from green to a bright flashing red...that probably wasn't very good, red was never good. To make everything worse the damn machine started beeping loudly.

Crap... For a moment there was a calm in the chaos as all the aliens looked in my direction. After a command from who I could only assume to be their leader they all started moving towards me.

"Yeah, hey sorry about your machine but, uh, I think I broke it! BYE!!" I said before phasing through the ground to end up in the sewer below.

Fearing that the machine would blow up due to my meddling I ran below and one by one yanked the other five down through the ground into the sewer with me.

"Oh come now, I promise not to..."

He was still taunting the beasts when they turned from him and a few moments later he stood in the sewer,

"..hurt you..too...hey what the hell?"

He noticed that the whole squad was there, even the thundercloud thingy. He noticed that there was a newcomer.

"Listen lady, you may look all hot and so in that outfit, but I don't like the smell of sewer,"

He took a whiff, then raised his boots out of the muck,

"Aw you got to be kidding me! And I bought these at a sale"

He gave the lady a smile and shook his head

"Sorry I tend to ramble at times, so now that we..."

A loud rumble shook the sewers and dust sifted from above and Gabe spat out some grit that got into his mouth.

"Now that we are here, just who are you guys?"

Mike Roberts

Mike had followed everyone else into the sewers, but didn`t bother to change back to human form. After all they were in a sewer.

He shifted his view as the ceiling as a rumble shook the sewers. After the trembling stopped he flew back up through a grate and went back out into the street.

The portal was gone and only a charred area was left of it. Most of the little creatures were dead with the other either unconcious or badly wounded. Mike hovered over the scene and tried to make sense of what had happened.

Before I could say why I had dragged them all down the sewer shook, to keep myself from getting dirty or from falling over because of the explosion I kept myself is a semi intangible state. After the rumbling stopped I followed the cloud creature out to survey the damage. Wasn't as bad as I thought, at least most of the aliens were dead with little effort on our part and I couldn't see anyone else hurt. I phased back into the sewer to let everyone know they were no longer in any immediate danger.

"So I may have tinkered with the portal device, course next time you all want to get yourselves blown up by all means let me know and I'll sit on the nearest building with some popcorn!" I said sarcastically. "Anyway, coast is clear..."

Mike Roberts

He turned on he woman and looked at her. Mike shifted into human form and approached her saying, "Nice of you to say such a thing but I wouldn`t have been hurt by that explosion while in m other form."

Mike looked around as the rest of the group emerged, "I don`t know who you all are, but I would like to know who the hell that big guy was."

I shrugged at his comment.

"It's my fault it even blew up, I just dragged down everyone I saw just in case they weren't immune to getting blown up, you know not many people are these days..."

I started to sweep the area, finishing off any of the little aliens I came across that had somehow managed to survive the blast. Despite the fact that they had just tried to invade I made their deaths as painless as possible, they were living creatures after all. I shook my head.

Just more soldiers used as fodder...
