Grooming

In Gary Jennings' historical novel The Journeyer, Marco Polo passes through a town in Persia called Kashan, which is famous for its good-looking boys, who are typically raised and trained to be rich men's bed-boys. (Because that is a route to upward social mobility, in a time and place where few other routes are conceivable.) The process involves sleeping with an ivory device in one's rectum, and being buggered by one's elder brother as often as he can manage it.

THAT is grooming.

Hanging a rainbow flag in a classroom is not grooming.

Having books with gay characters in the school library is not grooming.

Yeah, well, you're not going to convince the knuckleheads who are convinced that anything involving homosexual people or acknowledgment of homosexuality or bisexuality or transgenderism or whatever is inherently sexual. They would see two people of the opposite sex kissing and think nothing but "that's sweet," but the moment that two men kiss each other or two women kiss each other, or God forbid, a throuple kisses each other, it's "sacre bleu, that is so inappropriate and why must you flaunt your sexuality," even though it's just kissing....no different from straight people kissing. Basically, they want anyone who isn't a straight, monogamous couple to put their lives back into the closet and stay there. They want to go back to pretending that their aunts and uncles and cousins and siblings and sons and daughters and parents are straight. That's what offends them. It isn't grooming....it's acceptance, and that they cannot tolerate.

Lots of RWs seem to think this way.

But nobody is gay because they are seduced into it, are they? It is simply that some people are born with a homosexual nature.

(Of course people without that nature might indulge in homosexuality when nobody of opposite sex is available, as in prison, or on ships at sea, or in single-sex boarding schools, but that's a different matter.)
