I don't know where else to ask this and I know there are several people here who are computer gurus.

I have a netflix account and I can view movies on demand on my computer. The problem I have is that when I try to view one on my laptop, I get audio but no video.... only a green box where the movie should be.

How do I fix this or what is the problem that's causing it? Why is it happening?

Thanks in advance if you can or want to help me.

I wish I could help! :( try looking it up on yahoo answers they might beable to HTH

Thank you. ;-) Guess I'll try that. I sent netflix an email but I'm impatient and thought I'd get a faster answer here.

Was wrong, I guess.
I have no idea what the problem is, but I'd guess that Netflix doesn't recognise the laptop as being the computer authorized to use the account -- or perhaps it stillsees the desktop as being logged in and sees the laptop as a hacker.

get windows updates, latest IE 7, latest media player too. i have no issues with instant viewing of netflix on the 6 machines i've done it on.

You probably need to download the right codec for the video to work.

You need the codec.

Download the full K-Lite codec pack, and you'll be able to play pretty much any video file on the Internet, with the exception of DRM'd crap.

Although, if you're using Windows Vista, this codec pack could screw things up. Don't install it.
There's a separate one for Vista, but I'll have to hunt around and find it.

Netflix uses windows media player, and it should download teh appropriate codec for you. Mine did.
