Grateful Dead

not me. i have american beauty and workingman's dead and that's plenty. also, jerry's like dead, man.

Like since August 9th of 1994 dead.

That's really dead in my book.

I would go to hear Uncle John's Band if I didn't have such a bad case of the Cumberland blues.

It's going to be 3 Amazing shows...

You guys should have seen all the entities ( bands) that the guys where part of

I did not send in. My last mail order was some time in 94 (probably summer tour), but I'm really hoping to find a way to get up there. I have a lot going on this summer, but it will be hard to miss the last time the four play together.

And Jerry passed in '95 not '94.

you know, my sister was a deadhead so i've heard many, many, many bootlegs, but meh. they're a band i like, but don't love. what can you do?

still, i wouldn't mind some weed right now. acid? nah. too old for that anymore. i like sleeping too much.

Aside from a couple studio albums, I can't say that I am a Grateful Dead fan. I think The Band and The Allman Bros. took what the dead was trying to do and did it better.
They are great musicians, but they all got a little too into the hippy dippy part of their vibe.

The dead were not a great studio band but their concerts were magic. I saw Further a couple of times in the last few years and although I missed Jerry's voice the replacement guitarist was fine.

I got to see them a couple dozen times between '78 and '94. Utica, NY was the first and Buckeye Lake, OH in a rain soaked festival where Traffic opened for them was the last. If they were coming to my city, I'd go for the nostalgia of it all. I wonder if Hornsby will be the keyboard player?

I saw the Dead around 35 times in my late teens and early twenties. I'm sure the shows will be good, and if tickets fall in my lap, I'd go, but I didn't mail order, and I won't be siting at home thinking "I wish I was a Soldier Field."

Yes, I heard Hornsby will play with them.

I went to a concert once. 1983, I think it was. In Orlando. I saw The Who and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Hot, humid, no place to sit, music too loud, sweaty people in my personal space. Never again.

Totally this imo.

I did see Phil Lesh and Friends and they were terrific.... Tho Warren Haynes sitting in with them made a big difference

Had to be there....

Phil neve had much of a voice

Hornsby is on Piano, trey is on guitar

That is true, but box of rain was nicely done sometimes, and I like Tom Thumbs Blues. And he occasionally pulled off a decent verse or two in songs like Maggie's Farm.

The "we want Phil" chant was heard often back in the late 80s and early 90s.

Soldier field doesn't have a roof. The weather report for that day is 90+, 85% rel. hum. and 80% chance of thunderstorms. Of course a beer will only cost you about 15 bucks and there surely won't be any lines at the pee troughs.

The true problem is that you saw The Who while Kenny Jones was drumming in hte band.

No roof, no problem,

Concerts at 7 and our seats are on the shady side of the arena

Ponchos

We don't drink...

:D

I used to love it when it was scaled appropriately, but I don't like the mega-concert scene. No country for old men, I guess.
