Should I feel like a 'writer' now I've received my first rejection slip?

Been waiting four weeks since the first batch (4) of synopsis went out, it has been tense but I'm relieved to have got the first rejection out of the way. Now I can see the size of the hill :D

I had an acceptance from one agent, it came too quickly... just three days after sending the material out. With a little digging I found the next step would be fees for editing etc. I didn't respond. Clearly my agents research needs work!

I applaud your courage in sending something out. Not sure I'll ever reach that point (but then, you write beautifully).

Thanks Guy's.

The first lot (my novel set in Norway) went out while I was in New York - to NYC agents. I thought I'd strike while I had a 'hot address' on Madison Ave :D

That reminds me Sarrah... I owe you some Falcon pictures, I'll try to sort them later today.

I've not tried UK agents yet and I'm currently preparing my 2006 Nano novel to be sent out. Trying different tacks, different agents. Maybe even a few publishers... eventually. I'm still waiting on an editor friend in a publishing house to respond. She deals with non-fiction, but has connections. Had to bribe her with a couple of my Lit stories - I kid you not!

Cloudy... don't let anyone ever tell you that you don't write beautifully ;)

Ahhhh Will... I was just talking to a writer friend who was rejected (deep breath) 168 times before she was published.

Here's to less than that for you...!!!

and if not... persistence is a virtue!

:cathappy:
