You'd think I would know better to where it'd go, but here I am asking if it should go in T/C or I/T. They don't find out they're related until probably halfway through the story, so only the invested I/T readers would find out, other than it obviously being in the catagory.

As I understand it, I/T trumps all other categories so you probably won’t have a choice there. 🤷‍♀️

I/T since the relatedness is a big part of the story. If it were incidental or minor side plot, the. You could get away with T/C.

Have you considered splitting it in two and putting the first part in T&C and the second in I/T? I've seen series that span multiple categories and the readership doesn't seem to change much from chapter to chapter.

Not true. I've got several stories where incest is only a sub-theme, posted in my categories of choice. I let Laurel know, argued why I wanted the stories where I wanted them, and she agreed. She added an Editor's Note at the top, "This story contains incest themes," but that was it.

No I don't do that.

Category should be based on the main theme of the story. My Lessons My Little Sister Taught Me has a fairly major tryst between brother and sister, but it is a control vehicle to drive the main story of the brother's transition, so T/CD.

I prefaced the story with the following comment:

Going a little out of my comfort zone on this story, but not in a bad way. No bondage, or abuse, or stuff like that, just an inappropriate relationship between a brother and sister for a while.

It was pretty well received: 4.78/316 rating with 17.8K views, 48 favorites, and 33 comments, so... YMMV

I know, and have preached that in the past. I typically write with one theme blatant enough. Those two factors are just equally important enough that I found myself at a crossroad. It was a spare of the moment idea that would need furher development, but it'd go in incest.

If both I/T and Trans are major themes of the story, I'd publish it in I/T because it will get far more readers. Just make sure you flag the trans content ahead of time, either by a preface, tags, and/or signalling the issue early in the story.

If it happens, that's where it'll go. It'll be tagged appropriately.
