The one in front of the house came down this morning

I recorded it's demise on video... you could hear the baby birds crying, though that might have been my imagination.

If it sounded like bleating, Doc says it may be something else. Check the hubby for lanolin stains to make sure.....

The trees are gone

All the trees are gone now. Most were cut down, chopped up and carted away. This last week they've been taking away whole trees for replanting. The two Palms went yesterday.

The view from my window used to look like the first photo, it's the rest of the park that used to stretch up to our apartment.

The others show the Palms coming down and being taken away... at least they have another home - incidentally, our building is almost identical to the yellow (also yellow) across the other side of the excavation above the palm fronds in the third photo.

Aww - sorry for your loss of a lovely amenity, Neon.

For some reason I feel like I have some special relationship with trees. I don't know why I feel this way, but I suspect I'm not alone. I used to live near a park and I had trees there I kind of talked to regularly. A lot of us unconsciously relate to trees as our protectors, our alter egos, our totems, and we find them relaxing and comforting.

It's our northern European heritage. At heart we really want to chase each other around the forest, occassionally performing human sacrifices in sacred groves.

It is sad... on the other hand the car park is badly needed and it will be great to have somewhere shaded to park, it's sometimes over 60C (140F) when I get into the car. And they are keeping / rebuilding the fresh food market with pavement cafes so it wont be all bad... except during the re-building. The dust and noise is unbelievable.
