Dar,

Thinking of you, and praying for you too. Heal fast and get back here when you can.

Ted

Good luck Dar, may you heal well and fast. It takes courage to make this kind of decision and I admire that.

Well, I am home., Dr.Fezza ( my surgeon ) said that he has never seen anyone doing as well as I am. He let me come home a day early.
I still have a Jackson Pratt darin that they are going to pull out on the 5th. I get to start liquids other than water tomorrow.and in two weeks I can start soft foods.

I am really sore and the pain while not unbearable is definitely there. I can't get up from a horizontal laying position with out help, b/c my abdomen is so swollen for all the liquids thay pumped into me. one of those bags of saline and hour for two days straight.

my skin feels like it is pulled really tight . the nurses say that part will go away in a few days.I hope I can sleep.

I truly appreciate all the warm wishes. I believe all the poitive enrgy helped in my process.

Very glad to hear you're home safe and sound. Take care of yourself, Dar, and don't push it. :rose:

Dar.
The JP Drain, (Jackson Pratt,) is a godsend. It allows you to heal much faster than you woul otherwise. Just make sure you empty it and close it correctly. (God how I wish they had those the last time I had surgery.)

The swelling will go down, it just takes time.

As for getting up, try rolling onto your side and using your arms. This way you don't use your abdominal muscles. (This helps, or so say my Hysterectomy patients.) Also when you are up and walk or cough press a pillow against your abdomen. (It's called splinting and it does help with the pain.)

As for sleeping, I can't give you any advice on that, other than try to find a comfortable position and go with it.

Congrats on getting through this and keep on keeping on. (A little hint. Don't get discouraged and DON'T get depressed. It all takes time.)

very many positive vibes from me and the luckster too.
ah, dahlin... its a brand new start. im excited for you!
*hugs*

Dar, glad to hear you're home early. It sucks that you have to feel worse to feel better eventually, but I'm sure it will be worth it. I hope you're feeling fantastic soon. But if you are, just stay in bed and make people wait on you still, it may be your only chance for a break. ;)

well, just spent three + hours walking around walmart getting prescriptions and minor groceries. Feel kindof guilty that I have no money so MIL is buying everything.

Found out he crystal light is as nasty as I thought, but it does add variety to the whole liquid diet regemin.

Doc Seacat, are you a surgeon??? I would appreciate having someone to tell me the miriad of odd questions. Such as . . if they were going to make me do that horrid bowel cleansing, why did I have to eat liquids for two days prior to surgery? That really sucked.

Dar,

Not a surgeon, and wouldn't be one for any amount of money. I've just been in the medical field in one way or another for almost 13 years. (Presently a lowly C.N.A. on an Oncology floor, but I will be going for my RN when I can afford school.) I might, maybe be able to help with questions although there are people here much more knowledgable about medicine than I am.

How are you doing, Dar? Best hopes and prayers still heading your way. I hope that your pain is easing and your recovery is swift.
