Good Sex Songs

I probably have to credit Sade's "Smooth Operator" for at least one progeny.

The sun dappled ground, the sweet songs of the birds in the trees. The distant rushing sounds of water. The pounding of feet coming up the path and whooshing by you as you lay in the tall grass coupled in love!

Sex is Classical

If I'm going to strip tease for you:

"Habanera" from "Carmen" by Bizet... sung by the great Maria Callas

Naughty sex:

"Chai" by the string band Ethel

**you can go to the website, click on the album called "Light" and listen to the fourth track; you'll hear at least the first part.

If you're tying me to the bed posts:

John Corigliano, "The Pope's Concert" from the movie The Red Violin

If I have an unhealthy obsession with you:

Dimitri Shostakovich, String Quartet No.8 in C minor op.110

**this starts with slow, anguishing foreplay... but about five minutes in you'll be out of breath.

Our first time:

"Trois Gymnopédies" by Erik Satie

I'm a wedding night virgin:

Then again, I am a music theory dork...

There were some popular songs in the early Fifties which, for the time, were quite daring. "Teach Me Tonight," and "Make Yourself Comfortable" come to mind. :)

They would be considered pretty mild now.

The only one-night-stand I ever had (well, okay, two nights -- we were having a really good time) wound up with Madonna's "Ray of Light" album on repeat, with the volume down low. It made for an awful lot of foreplay. I hadn't heard the album before that, and I immediately went out and bought it.

Conversely, there was one girl I had pursued for weeks, and when we finally got together, she wanted the radio on. I was fine with it. Lots of adult contemporary stuff, which was fine. But we were having the post-coital cuddles when Jewel's "I Was Meant for You" came on, and not only was I very quickly out of the mood, I suddenly had terrible doubts about the relationship and was plagued for the rest of the day with what a bummer the inevitable break-up would be.

(As an aside, I don't think I could possibly get it on with Phantom playing.)

No music during sex, ever. To me, music is either worth listening to, in which case I find it distracting, or crap, in which case it makes things... crap.

My feelings towards music during sex could be colored by the fact that I lost my virginity to a guy who thought that blasting Bob Marley made him awesome. I'd never liked Marley before that night, and it didn't make him awesome.

Um, yeah. I have to agree with this.

Al Green: just about anything from the Rev., Greatest Hits is a good place to start.
Marvin Gaye: is it possible to beat "Let's Get It On" or "Sexual Healing"?

Classical is nice, I enjoy it (Ode to Joy sums up great sex really well), but I went some soul and passion that classical cannot always deliver.

Try lighting some candles, pop open a bottle of wine, put on some Al Green and see what happens, but make sure you have some condoms on hand.

And if you can listen to "Let's Get It On" without wanting to fuck something you are dead inside.

LOL I still remember seeing a live sex show in hamburg, the theme was fantom of the opra the fucked on stage, amazing :D

Wow - as it is I tend to find myself in the mood after watching the regular version. Something like that, as long as it was well done (the quality of singing is really important for me), would probably make it so I could never watch it again without having a partner handy. lol

Music tends to be more of a foreplay thing for me too - it's a bit too distracting otherwise. That's why I tend to go for things that are sinuous/seductive in feel. Music of the Night has that seductive quality fo me which is why I picked it, but no, I wouldn't want it past the foreplay stage.

I also like things I can move my hips to, so Chan Chan would be another one for me:

Some Santana too - but again strictly for foreplay because I'd get too wrapped up in the music.

Any thing from 'Lords of Acid' is good for getting in the mood, or scene music

Danzig- 'She Rides.' Think someone mentioned this one, but it's great. :D

Stone Temple Pilots- A lot of good songs there. 'Sex Type Thing' is one of my favs.

The Scorpions- 'The Zoo'

Belly dancing music can be fun too, in the right setting. 'Mystic's Dream' by a group called Celtic Circle kind of fits into that catigory for me. Good for lighter, cuddling kind of stuff.
