I'm the kind of guy that given the choice, always wants to hear the bad news first. It's my compulsive problem-solving nature. Good news can be savored later, bad news means there's work to be done.

So... what's your preference?

Ditto. Give me the bad, let me process it, then I'll have the good stuff for dessert.

It sucks to have a high crushed.

It sucks to have a high crushed.

Goes a bit deeper than that for me- I'm at my best when I'm fixing things, solving problems, moving forward. When I'm savoring good things, there's a part of me that thinks I'm just wallowing about when there's more to be done. I can relax for a little bit, but I'm always waiting for something else to crop up.

This is an unhealthy mindset, I'll admit.

Good News

Only because I'm not going to want to hear it afterward as I'm going to be totally focused on the bad one. And beside, since when someone asks you which one you want first, they are often related, it gives me an extra element from which to start to plan the solution to the bad one.

I never seem to have to choose.....cos its always bad lol

I would go with the bad first...so that I can digest it and deal with it and then the good to take the sting off

Bad news. It is more likely to need a rapid response than the good news will.

Honestly, that 'choice' annoys the crap out of me. I normally say 'just tell me'.

I'm the same way. No options, just blurt it all out at once to me.

When I'm spilling news like this, I will usually start with the good news. The bad news is usually some sort of catch. Like "we have an all expences paid vacation to Hawaii, but the flight is out of LA so we have to get to LA on our own". Okay, now I have the problem, and the goal, I can make a plan and find a way for it to work.
