Good lines in what you are reading

Sometimes I come across lines that make me laugh, or think "SWIPE!". Ones that work outside the context of the book. Those are what I'd like to see shared here. Sourced, of course.

From "Ghost Ship", by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller

"There followed a scrawl, that might've been either his signature or an accident of the pen."

My signature looks a lot like a seismograph of an earthquake, so this cracked me up.
