No shit- there I was. No instruments, no money, and almost everything I owned that wasn't completely distroyed covered in sooty burnt-plastic smoke.
I sent pics of my murdered guitar to a guiter-industry friend hoping he knew someone who could restore her. He, in his distress at my situation, loaned me a '56 Gibson flattop. (Lovely little thing...) Then he posted pics of my poor guitar to an industry forum he frequents. They were so touched both by my plight and by my friend's generosity that they determined to help me out. I didn't know any of them. They sent cash to my friend by the hundreds, in only two days, my friend took me shopping. My pride aches just a bit, but it pales in comparison to the gratitude I will be feeling for the rest of my life.
Here's the new girl around my house:

For any guitar fanciers among us, it's a 2005 Dean Exotica Dao. I was looking at the Exotica Andes, which is all solid rosewood, but this dao wood has an even more buttery sound. I was floored.
And now for the drums... I can manage that part myself I think- if I can just find the ones I need.
