I can only speak of my own experience. Everyone has their own reasons for saying no. In my case, my wife said it "made her feel bad." That was enough for me. I asked, she did it twice, but was not comfortable with it. That's all anyone can ask, right? No one should feel forced or pressured to do something that he or she does not want to do.
When you consider that a golden shower is pretty kinky, I was lucky. Many wives would never even give it a try. That's for sure!
