how can 6 months have possibly passed since the attack on the pentagon and world trade center? i just watched the evening news and film some of the memorials held around the country and the burial of a 21 year old soldier killed in action...there's no real question here just this...

Agreed on all counts, unclej. Well, except for God, but I'll take it in the name of patriotism. :)

Oh Say Can You See...

two columns of light...in remembrance....a stunning temporary memorial...lit tonight in nyc.....

God bless America

'Cos nobody else will...

Nice temporary monument.

I think they should just put a nice, simple, spacious park there. White stone, grass, some trees and 2,800-odd names.

The memorial is beautiful. As are many of the images that came to be after 9/11.

Those were beautiful and touching images, Caria. Thank you.:rose:

I'm trying to resize a photo that was sent to me taken of the towers several months before the attack. If I can work it out, I'll will post it.
:rose:

This shot was taken several months before the attack. It's my favorite shot of the WTC, especially since the sun eerily cuts off the towers as if were predicting the disaster.

Let's see if this works.

I saw part of that special last night, and, the entire time, my heart was in my throat. If anything, that day was a HUGE wake up call for me. I can't just sit around my apartment, wasting my life away, because, it can end at any second. LIVE IT UP!

I'm not sure where you're from, nasty. But honestly, life in NYC has altered dramatically since that event.

I thought the show was wonderful; it had a bit of a calming effect on me for some reason; the worst for me were the sounds, and the views from the lobby and the cross-over bridge as I was there many, many times. My co-workers' daughter died while crossing over one of those bridges as the second tower went down.

It certainly was the most honest documentary I have ever witnessed. Even the effect of the event on the French brothers was a riveting story in itself.:rose:

If it weren't too big.....

If it weren't too big, I would post the pic of the angel and the NYFD firefighter snow sculpture. It also invokes thought.

Well, I'm about 500 miles from the City. My sister's living their for college, though. Long Island, to be exact. She didn't even know about it, until my Mom called, and, asked how she was doing. She was like, "I'm fine. Why?"
