...at the cemetery.

He supposedly died while watching week 1 of the NFL.

He was still alive? He looked about a hundred years old when I lived in CA 15 years ago. And that annoying bloody song from the adverts is stuck in my head now, arsehole!

Oh the nutty memories of elephants and tigers from my long ago childhood.

Damn.

I have no idea who this Cal is.
An Iconic Car Dealer of Southern California. I cannot remember a time in my childhood when there weren't, Go See Cal, commercials.
Hi Pinky!

"I'm Cal Worthington, and if I can't make you a better deal on a car, I'll eat a bug."

That makes two of us.

I remember the Cal commercials from my occasional visits to the L.A. area, and from pop culture generally. I would not have guessed he was still alive.

They printed the lyrics to "Go See Cal" in his NY Times obituary.

Damned earworm.

That Bloopers show they had on in the 1980s did an entire segment once on Cal Worthington commercial outtakes....Let's just say his dog Spot (all 217 of them) seemed to like to crap on his cars...

Hi Pinky!

He was definitely a local TV icon. His commercials were always on during Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid. Whenever we would drive down the 405 Freeway and see his car lot, I would look for him and his dog Spot.

I saw one of his commercials the other day and was kind of surprised he was not only alive, but still on TV.

RIP, Cal. :rose:
