You poor misguided young lady. Ottawa is a far more likable team but its all kind of moot since nobody has a prayer against the Wings. If it aint Red & White its just not right. Weak line, i'm sorry
Expertise, you are the misguided one. The Dead Wings aren't getting past Colorado, and that's assuming they don't have to face St. Louis. The Avalanche are going to win it all, no one will stop Sakic, Forsberg, Ozalinsh, Heijduk, and Drury. And did I forget to mention a certain former Boston Bruin captain?
The Av's better hope San Jose beats St. Louis so they don't have to face Modano, Hull, Neiuwendyke, Belfore, Hatcher and the rest of the Stars as they win the cup again this year!!!!
Slut_Boy - parents both from Toronto - moved to UK in 1950 so I was born in UK; basically which ever line I trace back, a minimum 3 generations of north american forebears ...
The Stars are tough but they just don't have the magic this year like they did last. Not having Verbeek is really going to hurt them and Zubov has to be 100% healthy for them to have a shot. I say Avs-Flyers in the finals with Colorado winning it in 6.
Lusty Wench I do so love a woman who loves "the game" and since you apparently love the wings I can only assume that you are an exceptionally intelligent lusty wench. Sorry Will your finals prediction is off the mark ...Rechi that is he and Primeau, LeClair et al though I like 'em haven't got the parts. Wings from the west and with a tip of the hat to Wizard ,Pens (Jagr is without a doubt the best player in the world right now, tough thing for a canadian to say ...Shudder) from the east. Wings in 5
Part of the reason why I don't think the Penguins can make it (besides the fact I'm picking Philly to come out of the East) is that I don't think they can beat the New Jersey/ Toronto winner. New Jersey's not the same team they beat last year and I really like Toronto. In fact, if the Flyers don't come out of the East I think Toronto will.
And about Lindros, if you listen to the less than subtle hints some of the players were dropping, you can tell he was not a good leader for that team. His leadership abilites might work better for a team like Anaheim, but definitely not Philly. He's too quiet and withdrawn, and they needed someone more outgoing, like Desjardins or Brind A' Mour (hope I spelled that right) before he was traded away. But as bad as he might be, he could play for my Thrashers anyday.
Well Expertise, it looks like the battle is all set to begin, thanks to San Jose. And you are way off with the Flyers. Now that Lindros is gone, they finally have a true leader in Desjardins and they don't have to deal with "The Next One"'s problems. I like the Penguins and I love Jagr's game, but I don't see them beating Philly.
I would actually prefer that Philly was the team to come out of the east I just don't think they will. Desjardins has leadership ability, no doubt about it. However, like it or not so did Big "E". Philidelphia had a real problem getting past what was honestly an eighth place team Hasek or not. I am certainly not rooting for the Pens, in fact there are some things I really dislike about them ... Jagr included (though the devil must be given his due), but just watch they are gonna' do it.
Tsk Tsk, Will. The only team in the East that will stop the Pens is Philadelphia (As much as I hate to say that). For the past few years the Pens haven't matched up with well with Philly...but this ain't your same old Pens anymore. The deals Patrick pulled off at the trading deadline still amaze me. The idea that someone would actually want Tom Barrasso!! Hehehehe...It kills me. That was the greatest crime of this century, stealing Tugnutt and Laukannen from the Senators like that....Anyways, players like Rene Corbet, and Laukannen, and Bob Boughner make this Philly series a lot more interesting than it would have been 6 weeks ago. I think if the Pens can win game 1 tomorrow night, they'll win this series and eventually lose the Stanley Cup to either the Stars (who lost 3 of 4 to the Sharks in the regular season..GO SHARKS!) or the Red Wings or the Avalanche (It's tough for me to give a crap about hockey in the West, we never see'em here.)
But watch out. Jagr's on a mission. He needs to prove to his Boss that he can step up in the big games like he did (The biggest weakness the Pens have right now is that the best center on the team OWNS it). Kovalev is a big time player in the post season. Tugnutt is unreal...the only reason the Pens are still alive is that they were able to get rid of Tom Barrasso before the playoffs started.
Oh and as far as the New Jersey/Toronto winner goes, the Pens can out skate and out hit both teams. Plus they've got a playoff tradition of beating up and chasing good goaltenders.
Yeah, Philly let me down in game 1 but at least Colorado and Toronto rolled. And Lasher, I don't know if the Pens can outskate Toronto and New Jersey. I think Toronto's just as fast and the Devils are relying on speed and skill a lot more than in recent years. And don't forget, they still have Scott Stevens and Niedermeyer to take Jagr down.

Lasher, Will how 'bout those Flyers ...sorry guys I couldn't resist. The only good thing I see coming out of this is the demise of Bobby Clarke, good riddance to bad rubish. His incompetance should finally be rewarded with his dismissal.
