For those of you can look beyond politics; those who use reason and logic and science instead of faith and belief, you might find this article enlightening.

Global Warming: Enjoy it While You Can

by John Carlisle

"...Policymakers have been arguing for nearly a decade over what to do about global warming. Noticeably missing from this debate has been any mention of the fact that natural fluctuations in the Earth's temperature, not Man, is the likely explanation for any recent warming..."

Here's another reliable source for you.

NEW VACCINE PREVENTS CATTLE FARTS FROM CAUSING CLIMATE CATASTROPHE!

FARTING and belching livestock will no longer be a threat to the ozone layer -- thanks to a new vaccine that prevents their potent 'pffts' and 'burps!'

"Anyone who has ever been on a farm before knows just how toxic farmhouse fumes can be," says atmospheric researcher Jarrah Rolland, "but now we know it's more than just the smell we need to worry about."

Considering the source...

a few tidbits

In 2002 ExxonMobil donated $30,000 for "educational activities" and a further $15,000 for general support. [3] (http://www2.exxonmobil.com/files/corporate/public_policy1.pdf) In 2003 the company boosted its general operating support to $25,000 with another $30,000 for 'global climate change/EnviroTruth website".[4]

Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, NCPPR began using the rhetoric of anti-terrorism to attack environmentalists. In May 2002, it created the Envirotruth web site, to attack what it called the "jihad" that environmental activists are waging against corporations. [1] (http://envirotruth.org/)

And additional kudos for amicus, for his never-ending mission to spread the propaganda manure as thick as the fertilizer on my rosebushes. :rose:
And with an "article" published in 1998, no less. It's not even fresh manure...

Wrinkling my nose delicately against the stench of old propaganda.

I love youse guys, always so predictable, always avoid the issue, attack the messenger.

Amicus is going into hermit mode for a while, in hopes of getting some writing done, I am sure you will do well without my presence...

regards to all, a very pleasant diversion.

What issue? Even in 1998, there wasn't a single verifiable piece of information on that article, no bibliography, no indication of what scientific studies supported its claims. The only name being quoted, the "leading climate scientist Dr. Hugh Ellsaesser", was a retired Meteorologist who has never published any original research on the subject. The thing doesn't even make an effort to be believable.

Hey, don't go! Somebody's got to keep things interesting around here.

Sure it's senseless, and you have no chance of changing them any more than they will change you, but is that any reason to stop?

These religious squabbles are always a little bit interesting. And who will counter balance the volume of shereads' political posts?

And tonight's homework assignment: look up the words "disdain" and "evidence" in the dictionary and write a brief paragraph explaining why they are not synonyms.

Hey, wait!

You're going to leave without giving us our gifts?

:(

The information about the Holocene period, global glaciation and world temperature trends, was all incidental as I searched for environmental background on my novel of native americans, circa 10,000 years BPT (before present time, hate that 'AD & BC' thing)

Thus, 'get your own box', do your own research, if you really want to understand global warming without a political spin job.

It is quite fascinating to comprehend that much of Europe and North America was under two miles of ice about 13,000 years ago, and that sea levels were several hundred feet lower than present day.

Even in the world of predictive science, it is uncertain as to the cause of global temperature variations. Some postulate an increase in the 'wobble' of the earth's axis as it circles the sun. Others think intense vulcanism that choked the atmosphere with volcanic debris, others think medium to large size asteroids impacted planet earth and caused the climate to change.

It is such a thin and silly facade for the Left to attack industry and fossil fuels CO2, as the cause, more like an ant on an elephants ass with rape in mind.

But then, Liberals are a perverse group at that.

fixed the typo, thanks for pointing it out with humour, there, even used the European spelling, just fer youse guys...

I thought around here 'perverse' was a good thing.

sorry, ami, in a very irreverant mood today...

Neither you nor the author of that old article (nor the "leading climate scientist" quoted in it) did your/his own research, though. Interesting...

Cloudy, did not intend to disappoint you by limiting perverseness to Liberals only, you may be so if you wish.

I have shared your 'Vegetarian, that means poor hunter...' with dozens, they just love it.

thanks and all the best...

I do believe that was Colly.

Anyway, it's 93 degrees and the AC has been busted all day, so I'll believe anything anyone says to me acout the climate today. Is it cows farting? Is it too many cars? is it a cosmic wobble? Fine, whatever. Just make it stop.

Bumping so that Amicus can respond, now that he gave up on his plan to leave us without presents... :(

It's a tragic lack of equine oral stimulation. Let's all band together and fit this terrible menace!

You are quite correct, thank you and my apologies to both.
