Global war on drugs a failure, high-level panel says

ALL politicians, liberal or conservative, seek to impose their will on the people of whatever country they live in. However, different pols seek to control different aspects. Liberals tell me whom I have to hire and/or promote, based on race. They also tell me where I can send my kids to school, and never mind which is the best or closest school, also based on race. They require me to wear seat belts and a motorcycle helmet, whether I want to or not. They try to tell me where I can shop and where I can't. If they have their way, they will soon be telling me what I can eat and what I can't.

Conservatives try to tell me whom I can fuck and whom I cannot, and whom I can marry and whom I cannot. They try to impose their religion on me, whether I agree with them or not. They tell me what I can smoke or shoot or drop and what I cannot, and what I should read or write.

I say a pox on all their houses. All politicians who are in office for more than ten years should be hanged. If they arer lawyers, they should be banned from public office, because they are doubly crooks.

Bullshit. Ignorant sweeping generalization time.

It is not bullshit, and you know it as well as I do. Keep in mind, when I call somebody a politician, I mean somebody who is involved in politics for all his or her working life, and maybe even before that.

No, I don't know of any such thing. You're just being shallow and dumb and indulging in the great American game of scapegoating rather than actually expending the energy to look around at what's happening.

There's no "all" of any profession doing any one thing. Try not to be stupid--and so shallow.

I will hedge a little bit. Some people get into politics in order to steal from the public, but most politicians do so in order to gain authority over their fellow citizens and be able to tell them what to do.

Can you name one politician who is not trying to tell people what to do or who is not stealing everything he or she can? Some ot them do both, of course, but they all do one or the other.

I wonder what is keeping the Drug Laws in place? Anyone who has does any research can tell you that MJ is safer to consume that Alcohol, doesn't cause cancer, like tobacco, or defile your body while it kills you like Meth.

Our pol's are scared to treat the people like adults. Changing the law to ALLOW something to be legal means that they have to make a real decision not just tacitly agree with the laws they passed.

There should be a law that requires a Congressional review of existing laws periodically. The first six weeks of any session should be dedicated to removing restrictive laws, before they can pass any new laws.

Box:
Ron Paul R Texas
Dennis Kucinich D Ohio
Zoe Loftgren D Cal
There are a few Statesmen/women in our congress, but the honest ones have no power.

A lot of it is outright lying. There was a measure on the ballot to repeal the laws against MJ n CA, but it lost. There isn't much organization to repeal the laws against it, but there is plenty of organization to keep the laws: Church people, the liquor industry, drug gangs and gullible people in general. I remember hearing pontificating about how expensive it would be to conduct rehabilitation clinics to "cure" as many persons who would become addicted to "the killer weed" as possible. We all know that is untrue, becasuse MJ is probably less addictive than alcohol, and much less harmful.

I will research those people you mentioned and get back to you.

I don't disagree entirely with you; that's why I used a small "c" for conservative. After all, the so-called Communist regimes were among the most morally dictatorial history has ever seen.

As the US Constitution was being debated and considered for replacing the Articles of Confederation, there was a demand for term limits on holding public office. Jefferson was a major supporter of the idea, but it was ultimately rejected by the voters. The first Assemble National in the French Revolution passed a self-denying ordinance, but it was rescinded by the second Assembly. Self-serving ordinances seem more to politicians' liking.

So, once again, in conclusion, we can look at our fellow citizens and declare along with Pogo that

"We have met the enemy, and they is us."

I agree with everyone here. Boxlicker's descriptions of conservatives and liberals is right on. sr71plt is also correct, the use of All or None is never truthful or accurate. We, as humans in general, are just not that cut and dry. JackLuis' idea about reviewing outdated laws is a great one. Yes, Tio, we are our own enemies, even unto ourselves, like good ole Charlie Sheen. I, myself, will continue to use "the killer weed" with reason and responsibility. I have never had a car accident from being under the influence of weed, since I started driving back in 1968. That is because I am usually under the speed limit! LOL

I don't know, Allard, maybe it just felt like you were going slow. You don't try unwrapping chocolates while you drive, do you? :D

Actually, Tio, my woman friend and I created a club called 55 on I5, because we both like to take our time driving through the curves in the Siskiyou Mountains of Northern California. Interstate 5 or I5 is a two lane on each side affair with way too much 18 wheeler activity for my tastes. It is not always easy to do, but when we get the chance, we go 55 on I5.

I'll have to introduce you ladies to my brother-in-law and his friends; they have the 81 on 81 Club. (I-81 runs from the NY/ON border to Knoxville, and they like to weave through the 18-wheelers).

This is still off topic, Tio, but when I crossed the U.S. recently, I went 80 on I80 for most of the trip and the truckers were passing me.

Cross-country trucking? I-80? How is that off the topic of drugs? I-81 tends to be so truck-heavy, particularly south of Harrisburg, that you can only do over 80 by using the shoulders. Between Roanoke and the Gap, the Blue Ridge Parkway takes less than half the time of I-81. (And, to stay on topic, there are some very nice rest stops along the Blue Ridge...)

True enough, Tio. When our leaders forbid certain drugs, the drugs simply go underground and travel illegally across the byways to the demanding customers. All across the US, everyone wants marijuana, especially killer California weed, my legal area of expertise.
