Glee

I watch it every week. I only recently discovered it, so I missed the first few episodes. But, I am loving this show! Definitely addicted here.

I've not missed an episode. I was fearful at first that it was going to be "High School Musical" all over again. Not so.
Some of the plot devices are a bit worn and threadbare, but as character development progresses and between the dancing and singing (which is good for the most part) is interspersed with more dramatic situations in which the actors are also allowed to express their acting ability, they become fleshed out and three dimensional.
One example (spoiler alert) has the tight-assed female marionette coach of the Cheerleaders choose a student who has Down Syndrome and auditions to fill an open slot (NPI) much to both the protagonist's and the viewers' puzzlement. Later, we (viewers) are shown a tender moment between the coach and her older sister who, because of her profoundly arrested mental development, has been confined to an assisted living institution.

The total effect of the show is hokie and, although it skitters along the melodramatic edge of kitch like a drunk on the edge of a precipice, so far each episode has managed to avoid tripping over into the abyss of pure schmaltz.

I am. Love the show. Surprised at times at what they get away with, and yet how emotionally touching it can be at the same time.

I was only moderately entertained by the first episode I saw (which wasn't the one last spring but the first one this season), but my 12 year old son really liked it, so we set it up to tivo and now I watch with him every week. I need to put on Grease now, tho, esp since my son had no clue what it was. Made me feel old. And also like I've been neglecting my children's education. ;)

The show appeals to the former Show choir part of me. Never did quite the elaborate routines as they put on, but I can relate to a lot of it. Some of the characters are spot on to my own high school choir experience.

I hate to say it, but I've DVR'd every episode and have watched them all more then once. It brings back memories for me.

Been watching it since episode 1. Very cute show.

"YOU'LL HAVE TO SPEAK UP!! I'M DEAF IN ONE EAR!!" *points to ear* "SCARLET FEVER!!"

I wonder if the football jocks are still throwing Kurt in the dumpster...

I watch it every night, missed last night's episode though. Didn't feel like it was Wednesday. My fiancee is even more addicted to it than I am though.

Last night was a good one. :)

Good to see you again, Tolyk!

Ab-sol-utely love it. Fame & Grease ruined high school for me (I believed there would be singing and dancing in the halls) and gawd bless glee for ruining the next generation!

I watched an episode and was disappointed. Cartoonish.

Same here. The humor seemed blunt, harsh, and mean-spirited. I changed channels 30 minutes into the pilot.

Granted, it could have gotten better, but every time I switch to it they're earnestly singing pop tunes like some group act on American Idol.

Not really my thing.

I've taken to Community as my favorite new comedy, though the only tv show I'm really hooked on is House (I recorded it so I can watch once my Christmas story is done).
