Gladiator (Closed)

Kieren paused for a moment as he was putting away the photo albums, glancing over at her. He gave a little smile and shook his head for a moment.

“No, you aren't pushing me into anything. If anything, I'm grateful to you in freeing me. Truthfully, I have no idea what my fate would be if I was still in the Arena. Thank you.”

He turned back to the bookshelf, putting the last album on the shelf. He stepped back from the shelf, nodding to her.

“I'll continue to acquainted with my new home. If you need me for anything, just come and find me.”

He turned and made his way out of the house, his tails waving back and forth in the air as if waving to her. He spent his time exploring as much of the property as he could, including talking to the other workers she employed, until it was time for Joe to show up.

Angelica watched him leave, wondering if he really was as happy as he said he was. It was easy for those men to lie, but many of them were incredibly grateful to her for giving them the building blocks for a new life. Shaking herself from her thoughts, she stood and moved into her office to attend to some business. She had been neglecting her holdings and land much too long.

He was grateful to her for the new place to call a home. Though for him it was still like a prison, just a whole lot bigger with the stipulation of not being able to go beyond the boundaries of the property. He would have preferred being able to venture further, but he could be satisfied with the ground rules as they had been set. He wasn't even certain what more he wanted from his current situation.

After talking with some of the other workers about life in the care of Angelique, he mediated by the pond. When Joe showed to continue training him, the actual session of what was expected didn't take as long as the day before. Kieren pretty much knew what he was suppose to do, since being a bodyguard for a civilian was much less stressful and easier than the body guarding he had done in the service. Though his skills were a bit rusty, he caught on pretty quickly with everything that was laid out for the job.

Kieren and Joe sat by the pond for the rest of the time, Joe telling various stories about his service under Angelique. Just before Joe did leave, he said he might stop by again, but didn't tell Kieren exactly when. The kitsune took a few deep breathes after Joe left before laying back in the grass and closing his eyes as he waited on dinner.
