Do any of you know any natural remedies for cramps? I'm dying here and the Midol's just not cutting it. :(

Hey, I told you guys not to read this. :p

Peppermint tea, or raspberry tea. Raspberry tea is supposed to induce labor, but it also has the opposite affect on cramps. Or a warm bath helps too.

It isn't "natural", but ibuprofen (Motrin) usually works for me. I'll get my natural rememdy book and see what I can find.

I actually do have some raspberry tea. I'll go try that. Thanks :)

I heard Basil tea does the trick. At least that's what one of my gf's told me.

(Sorry for opening this thread. I'll slip away now.)

All the above is good. Apparently taking calcium on a regular basis (won't help at this moment) helps with limiting the amount of pain with your period.

Take a hand towel and wet it. Wring it out. Put it in the microwave for a few seconds...10-15 it gets hot fast. Then put it on the spot you are most uncomfortable. The moisture will allow the heat to seep into the pain to ease it.

having an orgasm reduces the cramps :)

That really does help a lot, but unfortunetly it's too hard to relax enough to orgasm when I'm in pain.

OK. According to "The People's Pharmacy Guide to Home and Herbal Remedies":

Some vitamins and minerals can be helpful:calcium, magnesium and potassium. Says that potassium is best obtained from food. Some foods high in potassium include apricots, bananas, beets, broccoli, brussels sprouts, carrots, cabbage, fish, oranges, peaches, peppers, plums, potatoes, spinach, squash and strawberries.

Herbs:
DongQuai (Angelica)
Black Haw (Crampbark)
Chasteberry (Vitex)
Chamomile

Also, you might do a Google search.

Hope this helps.

Eating a bannana and checking to see if I have any of those herbs. Thanks. :)

I had PMS and cramps until I went on a high protein/low carb diet. I am sure it has to do with the foods I eat, the extra vitamins I take and the balancing of the levels of my eicosanoids. (microhormones.) I have also been using a progesterone cream from day 16 of my cycle until it starts. My husband says I am better and he really is the judge.:)

The ideal is to set your body up so you don't go through this every month. It becomes years out of your life. I wish I had started younger, but I will take what I get!

Platex now has a patch that sticks over the area effected that heats for like 8 hours. You might check your local drug store and see if they have them.
