I too have heard many people say that women have more nervous endings in their genitalia than men (from hundreds more to 10x as many), but I have never read any reference to this phenomena in an Anatomy & Physiology text. My personal belief is that the difference in sensitivity between the glans (mushroom shaped “head” of the penis)and the clitoris is the nerve density (due to the smaller surface area of the clitoris) not the number of actual nerve endings. There might also be some increase in sensitivity due to being located in an moist internal environment: much the way the skin inside your mouth is more sensitive than the skin outside on your cheeks.
