"I think it started the moment that you took me on my first tumble in this bed. You've been an insatiable wolf this entire week." Kate teased him, giving a grin as he asked when his vacation was going to start. "You've never once complained either. I'm sure you'll boast to all of those stable boys when we get back to Edinburgh that you got to do all of the things to me that they've only imagined."

"I don't entertain those boys with our personal life, I threaten them for standing around ignoring work and talking like they know anything about sex, when not a one of them has even seen a woman naked. And I let them know exactly what happens to anyone who gets near my wife." He pulled on a loose shirt as well, smiling to himself.

"I prefer the term 'territorial.' The only people allowed to fantasize about you in my presence are the people you choose. Besides, they ought to learn that it's not polite to fantasize to a married man about his wife."

"Go do something useful, wolf." Kate said as he groused again about the stable hands that talked about her in sexual ways and the way that he defended her honor when he got the chance. "We'll talk about who these other people are later."

Kell came back to kiss her with a smirk, "Now you know how I feel every day." He disappeared from their room then, and she soon heard the front door as well as he set off to the pier close by.

After he had returned and a meal had been made, Kate sat at the little table wrapped in one of Kell's shirts. He was a surprisingly good cook. It was something that she was thankful for when they were alone and she was hungry.

"You said you wouldn't bring someone into our bed unless I expressed interest." Kate said, looking up at her husband as they ate from the fish that he had just caught. "What makes you think that I would have an interest in anyone else?"

"You've never thought about it?" Kell asked with a chuckle. "I'm not saying you have eyes for anyone, but it's always been an interesting thought. Myself, I've had interest in men and women both, but not enough to pursue anything beyond you and my first wife."

"Well....I mean, maybe I did think about it." Kate said with a slight shrug of her shoulders, a dark blush covering her cheeks as Kell talked about all of this with ease.

"Anyone I know? Or just considered the idea?" Kell questioned with a smile, amused by her embarrassment. "It's just us, love. No need to blush."

"Just the idea." Kate said as he looked so pleased with himself. "Maybe another man....but probably a woman."

"I'm up for either. Or both. But you'll have to ask when you find someone you're interested in," Kell sat back easily. "Because I won't push you til you're ready."

"You act like this is something that every married couple does." Kate said, a bit of grumpiness coming into her tone. "I know my Ma and Da have never done anything like this before."

"So?" Kell shrugged. "We aren't every married couple, and some people just don't have that interest or courage. We're ourselves. What we do- or don't- is our business."

"And just who has caught your eye?" Kate asked him, knowing that he probably looked around quite a bit more than her.

Kell chuckled at that. "You'll skin me alive if I tell you both. But I'll tell you one for free... I've always quite liked Qira. And he may have had a little crush on me when we were younger. I wonder if he still does."

"No, I'm not really surprised. You have a long standing relationship with Qira before he ever became my guard. I want to know who this second person is that you assume I will not like immediately." Kate said, curious as to who her husband had his eye on.

"Rissa," Kell admitted, ready for Kate to be furious with him after she'd thought he might be cheating on her weeks before.

Kate was deathly quiet as he admitted that it was Rissa that had caught his eye. She wanted to be angry with him, blistering if possible, but she only felt that deep seated insecurity rising inside of her. Compared to Rissa, she was an ugly duckling.

"I'm not really surprised. She's a beautiful woman." Kate said as diplomatically as possible.

"She is," Kell agreed softly, already able to see she was threatened by such an idea. "Before you start thinking I'm going to wander, or that I'm interested in her because you've convinced yourself you're not good enough, I want you to stop and remember why I married you. You gave me a new life, a new family, and love I thought I'd never have. And for the record, Rissa is not more beautiful than you. You are entirely different in looks and temperament, and it would be unfair to compare you. Rissa would be an adventure, but she is not my Kate."

"I often wondered why you wanted to marry me in the first place." Kate said softly as he admitted that even though Rissa was beautiful and vibrant, she wasn't his wife. "I'm temperamental on my best days and I certainly don't make things easy for you."

"You don't. But I proposed anyway, because I love your spirit. For all your grumping around, you have a distinct sense of right and wrong, and you fight hard for what you believe in, and that included me back when I was ready to just follow Mary quietly into the afterlife. I love who you are, and more often than not, your temper makes my day more interesting, humorous sometimes. You're still so young, and you're figuring yourself out. I still am too some days, even five years ahead of you. I can see you becoming a powerful queen once you really find your feet, unwavering even at all those ridiculous nobles."
