"What happens when we finally decide to have a cub? I will do everything I can to keep the rumors away from it, but I know it will be under intense pressure and scrutiny." Kate said softly as they simply talked about their future.

"Hopefully by then, we'll have proven our intentions," Kell murmured. "But a cub... it will have an entirely new set of doubts and worries around it. Scotland has never known a were as a Crown Prince or Princess, or as a ruler."

“Is it cruel to hope our child is human?” Kate asked so softly, afraid at what Kell might think of her for even saying that.

"I've thought the same more times than I care to admit since we married," Kell muttered. "That would save it from at least some of the danger and doubt..."

Kate watched as Kell said that to her and her heart broke. No one should ever have to worry about wh they were and she knew that most were did. They were hunted and tormented, feared in the most cruel ways imaginable. And there’s they were, talking about the want for their child to be human instead of a wolf.

“I would love a little cub with your black fur.” Kate said softly. “And no matter what, we know that we will love it.” Kate said softly.

Kell said no more for the moment, burying his face against her shoulder and wrapping her up in a tight embrace. He didn't want to think of the possible future a child of theirs would face. Human or Wolf, there would always be those who saw it as an abomination to be dispatched. That, on top of expectations and pressure that came with being responsible royalty.

“I’m sorry I ruined our night.” Kate said softly as her husband hugged her tightly. “My mind is heavy with so many things.”

"You didn't ruin anything," he promised. "I'd rather we talk and share our worries, especially when everything is still so new and frightening."

“Our Time is our time, Kell. I don’t want bad thoughts and concerns to creep in when it’s just supposed to be you and me.” Kate said with a long sigh.

"We won't have a chance anywhere or anytime else for it, love. It's alright to talk about in the evenings. I'm here to listen," he reminded softly, nuzzling against her skin.

"I don't want to discuss it in the evenings. I want to be with my husband and happy." Kate groused as she felt Kell holding her tighter, his fur warming her as her naked skin was pressed against him.

She was being stubborn over the situation. She knew she sounded like a spoiled brat, but it was all something that they needed to work out in time. She would grow less moody as she grew in confidence. However, in that moment, she felt so uncertain and scared.

Kell only nodded slightly, knowing it wouldn't do to argue about it in that moment. He knew Kate would ask him when she wanted his help. "I love you," he simply murmured.

"I love you too." Kate murmured as he told her that, turning her face to bury herself against his incredibly soft fur.

No one besides her knew that Khelt Aleister had the softest fur. It still fascinated her when her held her close against her, naked as she usually was. He never wanted anything between them and she had accepted it as a strange habit of her husband.

"I don't think I feel like making love anymore tonight." She said softly, turning her head to look into his amber gaze. "But I can still love you if you wish."

"Don't worry about it," he muttered. His arousal had calmed already, demonstrating a bit more of his immense self-control from years of hard training. His fingers combed through her hair and his hand came to rest on her cheek as he kissed her lips. "Tomorrow will be better," he promised softly.

"You really think so? I have meetings with a dozen different people before lunch and a dozen different people afterwards." Kate said softly thinking about the rest of her family whom she would barely see the next few days. "Would you show them around tomorrow? Make sure that they have a good day as well? I worry that my family will grow bored sitting around waiting for me to make time to be with them."

"They'll probably be busy themselves in the meantime. They all have contacts and business here, even your little brothers. But I'll look after them when I can. I have plenty of meetings myself."

Kate went silent then, simply hugging her wolf tighter until she finally drifted off into an exhausted sleep.

Across the castle, Julia was dozing in bed next to her husband, swatting at him as he kissed along a naked shoulder. "Let me rest, Brogan Ghis. You haven't made love to me like that since our time at Inverochly."

In their older age, they had grown calmer when it came to making love. There were still times when their passion would ignite something more urgent and it seemed that something had demanded that Brogan be a beast that evening. Julia chuckled as his thick arm wrapped around her and pulled her tightly against his naked body and she turned to look into his dark gaze.

"What's gotten into you, love?" Julia asked him softly, reaching out to touch his cheek gently.

"I don' know," he answered honestly, gazing down at her and turning his face slightly into her hand. "... Maybe I'm relieved... I expected Kate's first day t'go a lot worse. I didn' expect as many people t'be welcoming t'any of us."

"It'll still be a hard road for her, but I'm happy that she seems to be settling in." Julia said softly as she pulled Brogan in for a kiss. "And it will do you good to not have to worry about her all the time. I know that you do, my love."

"I always will, no matter what," Brogan confirmed softly, enjoying her kiss for a long moment.

“We have have to let her rise and fall on her own. It is the only way that she’ll learn.” Julia said softly. “No more handholding or doing things formher.”

"I've done no such thing since we got 'ere. Jus' offered advice," Brogan insisted. "Ever since she was married, I made myself start t'let go."

“Brogan, her entire life you have been right there to pick her up and protect her from everything that might upset her. Even when I tried to punish her for her pranks, you always swooped in and made even a punishment seem fun.” Julia said as he tried to defend himself.

Brogan could only sigh. They'd spoken about this far too often and he knew there was nothing he could say. Kate would figure it out, but there were times Brogan wished he'd not been so attached as to shelter her.

“You’re a good father. You truly are. But it’s time to let our little kitten figure things out on her own.” Julia said softly.
