"They can judge and wonder all they want." Kell lifted a hand to smooth back her wet hair before shifting her up further against him for a kiss.

Kate kissed her husband with a long sigh, nuzzling against him as the kiss ended and she grinned at him. "I'm sure you'll relish every moment of making people wonder what's between the both of us."

"Especially any lords who want to play havoc with our personal lives," Kell nodded with a hint of a grin. "No doubt they'll try to get reactions out of me concerning your safety, and you concerning my more secret work."

"Well, truth be told, it's none of my business." Kate said with a chuckle, nuzzling against Kell. "And if they press the issue, I will simply tell them to talk to you."

"If they press the issue, I'll definitely have a few words for them," Kell nodded. "No matter what any of those stuffy nobles and vassals say, our life is our own."

"You'll find out how hard that might be to keep people out of our personal life in Edinburgh. It's so large that there is hardly any time for privacy." Kate said as Kell promised that their life would be their own. "I have no doubts that you'll do your best, but I don't want you to be massively disappointed in the end."

"We may not have many places all to ourselves, but I promise there will be some." Kell assured her. "That's all I need."

Kate grinned as she let out a sigh and just drifted with her husband, enjoying the quiet moment with him before they had to return back to reality.

After lunch, Julia was rocking the twins off to sleep for their nap in her rocking chair, watching as Brogan worked on something at his desk. Heather had long since drifted off and Ashelin was fighting, her fingers flexing against her mother's dress as she whimpered and tried to hang on to wakefulness for as long as she could.

"What are you working on, love?" Julia asked softly, knowing that Brogan had been worried about Kate and everything that was happening to her in such a short amount of time.

"Letters t'Warwick an' Marianne," Brogan murmured, laying aside his quill to turn and look at his wife and youngest daughters. He rose and stepped over to take Ashelin. "Sleep, love," he whispered, kissing her forehead and settling her in his arms with her head against his chest.

"Kate can handle things on her own, love." Julia said as he admitted that the letters were for Marianne and Warwick. "We just have to let her find her own way and support her when she asks for it."

She watched as he took Ashelin and soothed her to closer her eyes, their youngest daughter asleep in moments. Julia chuckled and shook her head, rising to go and tuck them both into their beds.

"Every single child has fallen asleep when you merely mention the word. I usually have to fight them with tears." Julia commented as Heather was tucked in with her kitten and Ashelin with her stuff dog.

"Seems like all my siblings can do tha'," Brogan murmured as he watched her tuck the girls in. "Much as we like t'think we got it from Ma, she insists it was Da tha' could do tha' in 'is good spells."

"She has fond memories of your father, even if the rest of you don't." Julia said as she left the twins to slumber and followed Brogan back into their bedroom. "But I do admit that I'm worried about you, love. I didn't expect that Kate's marriage would effect you this much."

"It's no' jus' her gettin' married. I wouldn' have minded so much if it didn't come with th' knowledge tha' she'll be leavin' soon." Brogan sighed and ran a hand back through his long hair. "I've said time an' time again tha' Kell's a good addition t'our family. If they were stayin' here, I'd 'ave been a lot less melancholy."

"She's not disappearing forever, love. She's just going to a new home." Julia said softly as she moved to wrap her husband up in a tight hug. "And I'm sure she would appreciate her Da coming to visit as often as he could."

Brogan laid his head on Julia's shoulder, his arms loosely draped about her waist. "I will. Often as our lives can spare us."

"You just leave the other children to me. We'll be perfectly fine." Julia said as he rested his head on her shoulder and held her tightly. "Although, I expect Ashelin might be a little upset, I'm sure that she'll understand."

"I won' go without 'er too often," Brogan murmured softly. "An' I'll make sure t'talk t'her beforehand."

"You're a good father, Brogan. The best that any of our children could have asked for." Julia said, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

"An' yer a fine mother, dealin' with this lot," Brogan chuckled softly. "An' a damn good wife fer dealin' with me." He stole a proper kiss then.

"Well, you didn't really give me a choice, you brute." Julia said with a chuckle as her husband kissed her properly and she wrapped her arms around his broad neck.

"You could've said 't'hell with it all' an' gone anytime you liked," Brogan chuckled. "I wouldn' 'ave blamed ya."

"But then my life would have been boring." Julia said with a grin. "And I wouldn't have ever had my lovely sets of twins. Each one gave us something that out lives had been missing before."

"What, more stress?" Brogan asked with a teasing grin in return. He laughed softly and stole another kiss, scooping her up into his arms with ease just like he always had.

"Well, the boys certainly did. Now they stress me out in other ways. The girls, well, they haven't developed enough of a personality for me to pass a verdict on them." Julia said as her husband scooped her up and kissed her in that familiar and loving way that he always had. "In the mean time, I suppose I'll just have to worry about you."

"As always," Brogan nodded, taking her over to their bed and laying her down before crawling up beside her to lay his head on her shoulder with a long sigh.
