"As long as you and Da can still give me advice, I think I'll manage." He gave her a bright smile. "And Ciaran said he'll still be around to help too. He wants to talk to Da about making a Forester and Ranger force to help patrol the woods and highlands. I think he just wants an excuse to spend time with Justin designing the uniforms."

"Love makes you do strange things. It makes you think about all of the really important things in life and the goals that you want to accomplish." Julia said as Rho thought about teasing his brother. "Let Ciaran have his moment. He's a good boy."

"I think he's turning out more like you and Da than any of us expected," Rho grinned, turning his usual teasing on his mother. "All sappy and romantic."

"Careful, Rhodan. You don't want to tease your Ma about love because one day you will bring home someone that you care for and all of that teasing will come back to you ten fold." Julia said with a grin down towards her son, kissing his brow as she hugged him tightly.

"It'll be fun. I can handle it." Rho kissed his mother's cheek in return and it wasn't long before he had to scurry off to his usual training and studies.

Kate was quietly working alongside her Gran on the wedding preparations. There were last minute details to be taken care of and she wanted to make sure that everything was perfect. So far, the ceremony would be beautiful.

"I might have to hire you to do all this for me." Kate said with a smile towards her grandmother. "Da would highly recommend you to put together something for a future queen."

"That depends on what kind of celebration you'd like. I'm afraid my little plans are too small for all of Edinburgh," Kitty chuckled. "But I'll certainly do my best."

"Something small." Kate said as Kitty told her that it depended on what she wanted. "Here in Inverness. I couldn't even imagine getting married anywhere else besides here. Besides, why would I want to get married there with everyone staring at me?"

"Has Kell asked?" Kitty asked with a giddy grin. Even if Brogan and Julia insisted she has to wait, Kitty knew that Kate and Kell were going to be together no matter what.

"We've talked about it." Kate said with a slight shrug of her shoulders. "He hasn't asked officially, but I wouldn't say no if he did."

"Your mother would have a few words for him if he had asked without her and your father's blessing." Kitty kissed Kate's cheek. "That wolf is absolutely head over heels for you."

"He makes me happy, Gran." Kate said with a smile as her grandmother kissed her cheek. "When I think about Kell, my stomach feels like it is full of butterflies. Ma says that means that I'm a hopeless romantic. I never thought that those words would be said about me."

"He's the hopeless romantic. You're still learning how to be one at all," Kitty assured her. "But you'll know when it happens, someday when you see him in uniform riding at your side during some pomp and circumstance, and your knees will go weak and all you'll be able to think about is having him to yourself." Kitty chuckled at that, having seen the very same of herself with Vincenzo in similar situations, and Julia with Brogan.

"I don't think my knees would ever go weak, Gran." Kate said with a blush on her cheeks. "I'm not that sort of girl."

"No girl ever believes she is, nor does any man. But we all have at least one person in the world who can do that to us. And you're lucky I started the tradition of this family never settling for anything but the love of their lives." Kitty took great pride in the good outcome they'd had after Tamblin, and how all of her children were married for love rather than station. And her grandchildren were starting to follow."

"Do you think that Ma and Da will like everything that we have planned for them? Ma has been trying to get information out of Sam and Rho, but they have both been sworn to secrecy. I don't think either of them knows a thing." Kate said as Kitty talked about being a hopeless romantic.

"They're going to love it. They've wanted to do this for years and Brogan always promised Julia a second wedding. He wanted to cater to her most, having it in a nice Christian Church. But of course we're pulling in the best of both worlds." The plan was to have the wedding officiated by a priest, but decorated and carried on similarly to the lovely and colorful Lunasian weddings Invernessians loved so much.

"I just want them both to be happy. They deserve it. Especially Ma." Kate said as her Gran assured her that they would enjoy everything that they had been planning. "She works so hard to make sure that we have what we need and never asks for anything in return."

"Agreed. The most she's ever asked was for you children to dress nicely for a family dinner. Not even a year ago, you were so opposed to that, dressing up like a court lady. You're a good lass, kitten." Kitty kissed her cheek once more before Vincenzo entered.

"Kate, I think you ought to know that your wolf managed to hurt himself helping the guard patrols," Vincenzo told her with a chuckle.

"Kell got hurt?" Kate asked, looking up at her grandfather with a sight frown on her lips. "What happened and is he alright?"

"He's fine. Your mother made a bigger deal of it when he came in bleeding, but it was just a nasty cut and some bruises. Ria and Gerald's place got a little too rowdy so they called in the patrol to sort it out."

"He wants to help. Sometimes I don't like him helping so much." Kate said as her grandfather told her about the situation. "He's a stubborn wolf, though. He doesn't want to listen to me when I tell him to slow down."

"You won't listen to him either, so I think it works out," Vincenzo laughed. "I made him lay down for a while. You might want to make sure he actually does."

"I'll check on him in a little while. Khan will need some attention by then as well." Kate said as her grandfather teased her about not listening. "I listen. I'm just not so good at admitting that I need to take a break or ask for help."

"Just like your father." Vincenzo sighed with a smile. "Well, the wolf is your problem now. I've done my job."
