"You'll send a letter to rile him up." Julia said with a grin as he kissed her cheek gently. "Perhaps I should send the letter. I know how boiled your Scottish blood gets from time to time."

"Jus' 'cause yer English doesn't mean yer less hot-headed. Yer jus' better at actin' polite about it," he grinned right back. "If I 'ad a penny fer every time y'kept yer calm in a situation I'd 'ave killed someone for... we could afford t'buy a whole 'nother kingdom."

"I'm just happy that most of the children take after my side of the family." Julia teased him even further. "Ciaran especially. Kitten...well, there's no telling where that temper came from. Certainly not from me."

"No' my fault, I didn' ask for it," he chuckled and stole a kiss. "Cruel lass, teasin' a poor ol' man like this when 'e's got no one else around t'help." He laid back beside her, keeping her hand and his boyish smirk.

"I suppose I should take it easy on you." Julia said as he gave her that youthful smile that still made her heart melt. "You are about to be a grandfather after all. Soon Chessie will have to be serving you porridge before you take your afternoon nap by the hearth."

"Hey, now. That'll only 'appen after I'm ninety. I've got a good forty-odd years, young'un." He loved to tease her about being just shy of a decade younger than himself. Her twentieth year and his twenty-eighth seemed so far behind them both.

"Good. I need a husband that can keep up with all of my demands." Julia said as she leaned forward and kissed him with a slowly growing passion. "And one that can still chase me when the mood is right."

With a small grin, she threw the covers off and was up like a flash. She was out the door before Brogan could even rise to chase her through the keep.

Brogan bolted after her the moment his body caught up with his mind, chasing after her down the wide hall out toward the main hall entrance.

"Brogan!" Julia squealed with happy delight as his broad arm hooked around her waist before she even reached the doors, the laughter on her lips pure and full of joy. "You never let me win, you brute!"

"Jus' 'cause yer slow doesn' make me a brute," he growled playfully against her ear. "'Sides, y'know ye'd be disappointed if I didn' catch ya." He pressed a heated kiss to her throat and drew her back tightly against his chest.

Julia let out a soft moan as he placed heated kisses against her throat. She had to admit that he was right. She was extremely glad that he caught her each and every time.

"I'm just happy that I can get that Scottish blood boiling still." She murmured, giving him a grin as he pulled her back tightly against his chest. "This would all be very different if that weren't the case."

"Ye've always been able to, lass, an' I imagine that'll never change." He turned her round to face him, backing her slowly up against the broad doors. "But yer still a handful." With that, he trapped her hands above her head.

Julia laughed softly as he trapped her against the doors, her hands pinned over her head. He was still as playful as ever and it seemed that their honeymoon had rekindled that within him. She was glad after all of the war and the stress that they had been through over the years. They were both scarred from those times, but it was simply a bump in their road.

"Don't tell me that such a strong Scot can't handle a little English lass." Julia said as she leaned forward to nip at her husband chin and jaw.

"I can 'andle this one til she begs fer more," his voice rumbled out from his chest. That sort of growl told her just how she'd aroused him, not that it wasn't plain to see. He practically attacked her bared neck down to the collar of her nightgown that she still wore, slipping his hands up her thighs and hips beneath it.

Julia gasped as he attacked her throat. His lips reached every inch of bared flesh that he could, his beard scraping against her skin. She squirmed in his gasp as his hand slid up over her thigh and hip, dragging her nightgown along with it until she was bare to his gaze. After so long together, he still knew how to make her helplessly wet and aroused.

Taming his lust for only a moment, Brogan led her over to the main dining table at the back of the small keep hall and laid her back across its smooth and cool surface. His hands smoothed down from her shoulders over the curves of her body, taking her ever feature in with sight and touch as he had since their passion had ignited for one another. That same appreciation, deepened by years, was clear in his gaze. "Gods, you beautiful, beautiful woman," he growled deeply before meeting her with one of those soul-rending kisses that he reserved for only their most passionate moments.

Julia felt herself floating as her husband kissed her deeply, his appreciation for her apparent as he sought to love her there on the table of the great hall. It was scandalous, but she loved every single second of her time with him. It didn't matter where it happened, she thought to herself with a grin as his hands traced up and down her curves. Her body had changed over time, growing more rounded after bearing his children, but Brogan always seemed to make her feel like the most beautiful creature in the world.

When their vacation finally drew to a close and they made their way back toward Inverness, they arrived to find all was general peaceful aside from the tensions rising between the humans and werefolk. Most people on either side were not racist, but the minority made the majority anxious and more likely to be set off.

Brogan opened up the front hall doors, finding his family and friends all sitting in the main hall at lunch. No one had been expecting them home until the next morning.

"Da!" Came three sets of voices at once, but it was Sam and Rho who made it to their father first.

Each little boy was excited to see him, wrapping him in the tightest hug they could muster as Kate hurried to wrap her own arms around him. Julia was happy to see Ciaran and the care that had been given to her youngest girls.

"I missed these wee ones." Julia said as she scooped Ashelin up in her arms, kissing her downy hair as Heather slumbered in her brother's strong arms.

Brogan had both his boys in his arms when Kate approached, and he set them down a moment to hug his daughter tightly. Even if he'd missed them all, he'd been most concerned about Kate and that was no secret. "Hiya, kitten," he murmured. "How'd it go?"

Ciaran wrapped an arm around Julia and kissed her cheek. "Welcome home, Ma."

"It went well." Kate said softly as her father hugged her tightly. "Kell and Uncle Durban helped me with everything. Despite the tension, I think I did pretty good."

She looked up at him with a smile, knowing that he would be proud of her and anything that she did. It meant a lot that he loved her enough to trust her with his kingdom and to give her mother the vacation that she had deserved.

"And we made plans...for you and Ma." Kate whispered softly as Sam and Rho turned their attention towards their mother, clamoring for her attention now.

"Plans?" Brogan raised an eyebrow. "Yer Gran's not in on this, is she?"

"'Course I am," Kitty chuckled as she came to kiss her son's cheek in welcome.

"We couldn't have planned it without her." Kate said with a grin as her Gran stepped in and took responsibility for their plans. "So has Annie. She was suppose to be here this afternoon, but she wasn't feeling well so Grandpa and David took her home."

"I'll have t'go see 'er later, then." Brogan kissed Kate's forehead. "Now... Since it's lunch, let's all sit down an' enjoy it before we go runnin' off t'other things. An' y'can tell me how it went."

Kate smiled as she led her parents to the table and sat between the both of them. She had her Da's full attention as Julia was distracted with both sets of her twins. Rho and Sam wanted her attention to tell her about their time in the woods with their Uncle Durban while Ashelin and Heather simply demanded to be held by the mother that had been gone much too long.

"Some of the wolves that work at the lumber camp say that there are workers that refuse to work the same shift as them. That was the first I had heard about any tensions." Kate said to her father as they talked about what had happened while he was gone.
