"Already?" Kell smiled down at her. "Then again, you're not one for routine and repetition. In most things, anyway."

“I’d rather be hunting with my Da.” Kate grumbled as Kell mentioned that she was never one for repetition.

"You still can," Kell reminded. "He's still here, after all." He laced his fingers with hers.

“Would it really be beseeming of me to have the new queen off hunting only a few days after being coronated? I feel it would set a bad Example.” Kate lamented.

"I think you care too much about what stuffy nobles think of you. Your personal time is just that- personal. If you were what they wanted, you'd be seen and not heard and you'd be married to a human king."

“But I’m a wayward woman married to a wolf.” Kate said as she leaned her head against Kell’s shoulder. “Let’s take a nap instead. Da and I can go hunting tomorrow.”

"I'm sure I can work that into the schedule," Kell said with a smile, turning their course toward their chambers as they entered the castle.

“That’s why I like you. You allow me to corrupt you.” Kate said with a silly grin on her lips, kissing her husband as they paused in front of their rooms. “After we nap, I might allow you to finish what we had to stop the other night.”

"You aren't corrupting me yet. I'm just very agreeable," Kell nuzzled against her cheek and swung the door open for her. "And we'll see if you still have any patience for me when you wake up."

“Are you saying I’m grumpy?” Kate asked as he nuzzled against her and opened the door. “I might have to tell My Lord Protector to watc you. I can’t have someone bad mouthing the queen.”

"Maybe I should make sure people know that. And maybe how terribly demanding you can be in our private chambers," Kell smirked lightly. He stepped in to hang up his jacket.

“I’m only demanding because you deserve it.” Kate said as she loosened her belts and laid them aside.

Her boots soon followed and she was soon beneath the sheets in her trousers and tunic. It felt good to relax, even if it was brief.

Kell laid aside his shirt and his hidden bandolier of blades, slimmer and much less noticeable than his former gear. He slipped into bed with Kate, laying behind her and pressing a kiss to her neck before sighing deeply and relaxing.

“I love you, Kell.” Kate murmured softly, kissing the back of his hand as he wrapped his arms around her.

"And I love you," he whispered back before falling completely still. His dark fur warmed their bed and soon he was fast asleep. Normally he made sure Kate got to sleep first, but it seemed he was tired.

Kate nuzzled up against him and finally relaxed herself. She slept deeply in Kell’s arms, knowing that she was the safest that she could ever be.

Kell let Kate sleep even after he'd woken, busying himself with a bit of reading and paperwork at the bedroom desk with a cup of tea he'd briefly slipped out to fetch.

“Why do you always leave before I wake?” Kate asked when she finally roused herself, rubbing her tired eyes with a fist before she pushed the blankets away with a long sigh.

"I never go far," he said softly, setting aside his pen to come to her side. "It's hard to just lay in bed for a long time."

"I expect you to learn how to get over that. I want someone to cuddle with on the cold winter evenings and when I'm heavily with child." Kate said as she instantly snuggled against him again, his fur soothing her in a way that she couldn't describe.

"Are you intending for that to be soon?" Kell chuckled, curling up with her once more. "I can't make any promises."

"I don't think so." Kate said softly as Kell wrapped around her. "I mean, I wouldn't mind a cub, but I don't think we're in a spot to give a cub all that we need to give it."

She turned her gaze towards his and reached out to touch his cheek. "Let's give it a few years. Then we can seriously talk about children."

"I'm in no hurry. You're far too young anyway," he teased with an adoring smile, closing his eyes as she touched his cheek.

"I feel like I'm far too young most of the time." Kate said as she leaned in and kissed her wolf, sighing as they simply spent a lazy afternoon together. "My Ma was barely older than me when she had Ciaran though. I guess being a young mother isn't a bad thing."

"It isn't, but sometimes I wonder if people don't give themselves enough time to enjoy their own lives and adulthood before dedicating it all to children." Kell then added with a sigh, "I know I was far too young."
