I don't know what it takes to get either a response from you editors or another story posted. I have sent in at least three other stories and non of them have been posted, no have I recieved any replies to my inquires about this matter. I sent in the stories almost 3 months ago. What gives?

I'm obviously not trying to criticize you, since I've never seen any of your stuff, but you'd have to reason that it IS possible your threads just weren't good enough. Also, take it up in email, the people who accept threads couldn't read these forums much. Also, check to see if they have been rejected or if other threads are being accepted. Make sure you have more information before you go running with your guns out and the safety off. ...so to speak.

Actually you did see some of my work. You added a chapter

Actually you did see some of my work. You added a chapter to my story A Special Family Camp Out. I think the story is one of the most viewed here. I can update a thread but I can't put up a new one or even a new story. It kind of bites.

They didn't even respond to the previous stories that I sent in.

oh yes, and that was quite a good story too. I'm not sure why it didnt work. They must have been experiencing some problems during that time. I should have guessed i'd seen your work before, I have read every story, and you obviously post enough that you left a message in the forums.

Thanks for the compliment 69

Thanks for the compliment. Glad you liked the story. I did try an up date today but still no go. Oh well, guess I will have to shut the story down.

I've only rejected one addition to my story "Through the Window." Not because it was badly written, but because the submitting author wrote it in second person POV when the rest of the story is in third person.

The submitting author didn't leave an email address, or at least the address was not passed on via Chyoo. I replied via the editor window at the bottom but never saw a rewrite or a response. I've been wondering if that writer believes they were blown off too. I hope not - the piece was pretty good.

Not everything that happens in net publishing is intentional.

What if there were other reasons the email didn't work?

I was in an email conversation with some people a few years ago and a computer crash caused me to lose the entire thread. I know they think I just got tired of talking to them but it's not true. In that light you may never hear from that person who wrote that thread. So what you might consider is rewriting it yourself and posting it in such a way as to give them the proper credit (if that's possible). As far as getting things posted goes, I've seen a trend in posting things that push the extreme of good taste and the law. One of these days someone is going to slip by a post that gets the owners of this site arrested and that will be the permanent end to this site if not every site like this. If you give anonymous people free reign they will definately take full advantage of it, and in so doing put you at risk. Because they don't have nearly as much to lose as you do. A lot of them don't know and don't care. A lot of them do know and do it on purpose. Unfortunately, the people who try to do the proper thing get punished along with the guilty. I would sorely miss this site if anything happened to it.

Not a bad suggestion, but the story has progressed since then: other authors have added to it. On top of that I don't remember the submission well enough to even come close to a proper rewrite. Honestly, I'd feel insulted if an editor did a complete rewrite of anything of mine without my permission. On Chyoo I edit more for mechanics than content.

You have a good point about people who abuse the system. I don't think it's the minority of abusers that ruin things though. I think things are ruined by over-sweeping rework of the whole system by self appointed "clean up crews."

We here in the USA have a tendency to inflict kindergarten style justice on each other. One person misbehaves and the whole group loses - the offender ends up punished, but no more than the rest of the group. The sane thing to do given your example, Truck, would be to arrest the person posting the message and leave everyone else alone. Sadly though, our draconian Right, (Not to mention Left), need to get their names in the paper and their faces on TV and their way of life legislated for us all.

Anyway, I'm still sleepy and need to have some fun this morning. Ranting is giving me a headache...

Cute - kindergarten justice - I got a real chuckle out of that

Well it was just a suggestion. Unless that person ever remembers to come back, that posting is just a lost cause. I too would be upset if an editor did that to me, but there are mitigating crcumstances after all.
As far as the kindergarten justice, I guess we did that to ourselves over the years since this country was founded.
What?! You expected sanity from human beings?! haha!
Don't let it give you a headache. It'll all work out some day.

getting stories added

Hi guys,

I don't know if there is a problem here or not with my stuff. The thread for the story I sent in was accepted, but the story itself hasn't been put up yet. Is that uncommon? I tried the Ptb's, but they have never responded. Anyways here's hoping its up soon.

the story editors (whoever started it) review the threads and i guess the site editors review the new stories. Anyway its different people looking at them.
