How does it happen? I submitted three stories about a week ago and I haven't seen or heard anything about them yet. When I check my submissions, it says that I have no subimmions posted yet. I'm wondering, generally, how long does it take from the time one submits a piece til it gets reviewed and posted?

Right now 7-10 days seems to be the norm.

It could be even longer - there's a contest just kicked off this week, and contest entries always get precedence over other story submissions.
I've got one in the queue too, not expecting to see it before next weekend.

Besides you asked THE QUESTION. Now you go to the end of the line and have to wait for six months before the Editors will review your story. Around Thanksgiving time you will receive an email with the specific requirements you will need to provide before the Editors will post your story. A short list will include:

Date and place of Birth
A comprehensive list of your entire family
A complete list of all your friends
Names, dates and addresses of anyone who has already seen your story
A Cashier's Check made to the Story Editors (Amount varies with story length)
A copy of your birth certificate
A copy of your driver's license
A noterized copy of a letter from your parents stating you did, in fact write this story with no help from anyone else.
A signed affadavit stating you will NEVER ask THE QUESTION again.

BTW. Welcum to Lit :)

And a case of beer to keep the reviewing staff happy....

How do you enter a competition?

I just e-mailed mine 10 days ago(still awaiting publication ) -are not new submissions entered automatically into a competition or is there some other process you have to follow.

Any help here would be appreciated as I am new to this site.

Thanks

When you submit your story, put the contest name "Nude Day Contest Entry" in the notes section.

also it'll need public nudity because that's the theme....

Not to forget, the Ciroc Vodka
The peeled grapes and pitted cherries
You must also demonstrate mastery of your tongue, by tying said cherry stems into a double knot in less than 1 minute 30 seconds. (BTW I can LOLOL)
You must also be able to demonstrate complete submission to any and every reviewers critiques... even if you get snarked.
After all we wouldn't want you to embarrass yourself....

By the way... it really does take a while... if you provided GOOD copy it might take a smidge less...

Also...
If you click submit - click the link, then click submissions - VIEW it will tell if its been pulled to be read....

Perchance took 11 days to post... so what??? yes I was angst driven but I didn't care... I had done my job - it was time to let some else do theirs...

WELCOME TO LIT BABAY---

I gotta say...

Sure are quite a few smarty faces in this hut... I kinda like it! Looks like this lil query thread was just what some folks needed to break the monotony. I'm just glad I got some answers!

Just one more question... Am I still a virgin? :eek:P

That sort of brings up something I was curious about...

Are the monthly contests still being held? The contest page shows the winners for december, which seems a bit out of date. ;) I was wondering if they discontinued the monthly contest, or has the page just not been updated? Is there anywhere else to see context winners, that might show more recent winners?

The monthly contests are still being held. The winners of later months have not yet been announced. The site owners got swamped last year and are still catching up.

Round about Dec. 27th, we will know the February winners...and maybe March's too...:D

Well, it's done!

Two of my stories have finally been approved and posted. Thanks to everyone here for your comments in this thread and for sharing your wit and wisdom on how things happen over here @ Literotica. I'm waiting on a third to be approved as well, which happens to be a continuation of the second story featuring the same main character. The first story: http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=315538 can be found under the Interracial Love category. The Second story (Act I): http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=315751 can be found under the Lesbian Sex category. It's pretty short tho, mostly table setting. Feel free to check them both out!

Thanks again!

You either have not submitted to an editor, or your editor leaves something to be desired.

Paragraphing is so important.

The immense blocks of text scared me away before I even began reading.

to clarify......

three to five sentences is about all the readers eye can handle before it needs a break when reading on a screen.... More than that and it's hard to read and to easy to get lost....

This is one of the main difference in formatting between books and computer screens. It's the back lighting...

Ahhhhh...

I see. That makes sense I guess. I have this print format thing stuck in my head. I hate to break up my paragraphs in the middle of a thought or image, but it makes sense here, in this online format. Also, the reader tends to feel like they're moving thru a story if there are shorter paragraph breaks, now that I think about it. Thanks for the tip, it'll come in handy for future submissions.
