Need some household assistance here. I cooked up some fish and now the house smells of fish. I tried baking some cinnamon in the oven (one suggestion I read on the internet)--that made the house smell lovely and spicy for a while....

But now it's back to smelling like fish.

Help. Room fresheners aren't doing any good either and moving is not an option.

Slices of lemon in a cup half filled with water and put in a microwave.(Try turning the microwave on) :D

Parsley is good too. A few sprigs placed around the house.

Ken

Windows and fans are on.
Trash has been taken out.

Will wipe down counters and walls...and put lemon in the microwave. Well, lemon in water. How long do I microwave it and what do I do after it's good and hot?

Note to 007: No more sushi for you :p

But I only like red snapper sushi :D

I usually boil some lemon slices in a sauce pan with some water and a little vinegar. It should start to help right away. :)

Light a candle and let it burn on the stove.

Southerners rub lemons on their hands after a fish fry or peel and eat shrimp so a real citrus air freshener will work along with airing out your house.

Fan and open window or door?

(Or cook some cabbage ) :D
How do you get rid of the smell of cabbage then, fry up some fish? ;)

put a full bowl of vinager on your counter after you have finished cooking...this also works for cat "spray" and pee...

just leave it there for about a couple of hours and pffff smell is gone!

Lemon juice, vinegar, and burning candles all help, in my experience, but the easiest (and probably most effective) method is to slice an onion and leave a slice or two at each of several points around the room. Fish odors disappear within a half-hour or so, and the onion smell disappears when you throw it away.

Same tactic works really well also at getting rid of paint fumes when you redecorate.

Um, and say a prayer?

Scented candle? And I used an electric grill.

THAT is really interesting...alas. I have no onion on hand, but I'll get some if the vinegar, et al doesn't do the job.

Okay. Wiping down the counters seems to have helped. I'll put out some vinegar. Regular, all purpose white vinegar I presume?

Any kind of vinegar works--the acetic acid is the active agent. Red wine also does a passable job, but vino has better uses.
