What I like about dreams is that you rarely have control over them. That goes double for wet dreams.
But what if an event happened where if someone was dreaming about you, you would join them in their dream? Note: you wouldn’t have any control on your end. Your mind would just be put in the POV of your dream self.
I was thinking that maybe the event or effect was limited to a town. In any case, it couldn’t be idle daydreaming or lucid dreaming: the dreamer has no more control over things than the person being dreamed about.
I think it could lead to a lot of interesting drama.
For example:
1. MC has a dream about a family member. Boom. Then they have to deal with it. I’ve seen one dream interpretation of incestous dreams meaning a wish to be emotionally closer. Of course the dream just makes them further distant in the real world making the dreams increasingly vivid.
2. Person has a dream where the person being dreamed about is acting out of character. Could go a couple of ways
A. Out of character to the dreamer: bully is suddenly very gentle and affectionate, close friend is rough and controlling
B. Out of character to the one being dreamed about: boss who thinks she’s very personable finds herself being a sadist, person who has a lot of self loathing is portrayed as being very attractive and desirable
On both: maybe it’s the dreamer expressing their thoughts, maybe they are picking up on hidden sides to people they know, or maybe it means nothing
3. The Dream reveals hidden sides of the dreamer: MC dreams of being in some swords and sandals dream where she is wearing a chainmail bikini. Inwardly she groans: it’s obviously one of the nerds she walks by every day. In the dream she defeats a cult and finds a virgin strapped to a slab…and it’s her close friend…who is very straight. And suddenly she is stripping her friend naked…her very straight, definitely not a virgin, friend, and then she is passionately making out with and fingering her friend. The whole time she keeps expecting one of the nerds to show up but it’s only when her friend orgasms that the dream suddenly ends and she realizes her friend was the dreamer.
Again, maybe it means nothing but…then again, her friend says she’s had sex with all of her boyfriends who MC has never met, and friend does look at her a lot, and she did once have a fantasy book on her that she claimed was accidentally delivered to her.
