The future of the native crayfish is looking bleak after recent
studies have shown that, in the last 10 years, millions have been wiped out.
In Hampshire crayfish can be found in only one river.The River Itchen has become their last haven.
Crayfish are the victims of germ warfare perpetrated by an American species which carries an infectious disease.
A spokesfish said,"I can think of no reason why our American
cousins would do this to us".
