A friend pointed out the erotic sugestiveness of Georgia O'Keefe's flower paintings and asked if I thought about doing a comparison. So here is my flower pics, Georgia O'Keefe inspired..

Yes and no. O'Keefe's work, while the subjects are primarily flowers and some surrealism, is primarily about color and the interactions of the colors. The flora in those paintings seem to give O'Keefe an easy way to play with the colors and still get across the point of what the colors belong to. At least that's the way it seems to me.

Don't get me wrong, though. I'm not complaining about what you're doing with the subject. Feel free to keep it comin'!!!

I guess it depends on how, and what you are looking at and how it is presented to you. This was the insperation piece. In looking at the bottem flower you can see the curve of what one could interpret as lips. True the ones I posted are stripped of color and I'll post the originals. But the idea that was asked of me, was to compair the shape of actual flowers, to the shape of an actual woman. Many have said that there is resemblance in O'Keefe's flower painting and a very specific female form. I'll also post the original colors, as they do on their own hold specific ideas. I personally just felt that stripping the color made the two images blend, so that lips become flower and flower lips. But I guess art is up to interpetation, and the spark of debate and ideas was the main goal in posting them here. :)

No kidding there. We've got a whole other thread going on just that subject. From your point of view I see exactly what you were trying to achieve in those photos. I like it and its nice work nonetheless. :rose:
