Yiihaaa!!

Bush is going to invade Iraq. Unless you believe the stories beginning to circulate that he doesn't want to any more...

And Homeland Security is finally underway. Until you realise that there's no budget for it for 2003...

And Osman bin Laden is on the run, or is he dead? Who knows? Who cares? At least George showed those Afghans not to mix with America...

Anyone remember the ballistic-missile-defence program? George does. It's something he can understand. Not like these terrorist chappies who won't stand still and be killed in the usual, familiar fashion...

That why $7.4 billion will be spent on R&D for missile defences next year. That's twice the sum Reagan spent on the same thing in his final year of office. Right on! A system that remains sketchily defined and technologically dubious, against an unlikely threat that lies years. if not decades ahead, George is willing to spend a lot of hard earned cash...

But for defence against "weapons of mass destruction" that could snuff out thousands of American lives, on American streets next week he's spending far less than would be needed for a serious minimal effort.

Yiiihaaa!

Confused or mad?

After all Nixon was President whilst under the influence of drink and drugs...

Why not George?

up...

for those mockers who will enjoy seeing their fellow citizens come back in pieces...

This might give you some idea of just how dysfunctional the rest of the world sees George...

Oh, yours is an opinion worth listening to . . . *hic*

Is this about King George III? Just checking.

Actually, the President doesn't and can't do diddly without the support of Congress, the proxy of the American people. He's the GOP's most influential member, but that doesn't make him all-powerful, even within the party.

Don't you suppose if George got his way all the time, he'd be spending a lot more on those programs?

Iraq acquiesced. US stands down. Simple, really.

And Osman bin Laden is on the run....

Is that another brother or cousin of that Osama we all know ?

This concept works for you, so it shouldn't be that wrong from your POV

A friend emailed this attached pic to me.
Telling what a powerful Commander-In-Chief Bush was.
A President with dedication and visions.

I'd check that if I were you.

According to the History Channel yesterday the Joint Chiefs of Staff, during Nixon's time in power, made a solemn undertaking that no nuclear weapons would be launched until all of them agreed to it.

They were so scared of what he might do they by-passed the usual chain of command. On top of which many of Nixon's Presidential orders were never carried out because it was recognised that he was giving them under the influence of drink and drugs...

If Nixon, why not George?...

That worked for the Russian President Yeltzin... difficult to tell if he ever was sober.

Yes it is frightening.

But honestly I for one don't see Bush being this dangerous.

If he was the man you consider him, Bagdhad wouldn't exist any longer. He listened to those telling him he couldn't do it on his own all alone. Otherwise the US (and probably the UK) would have invited Iraq already.

We had this discussion more than once. And our POVs are diametrically apart. I don't change mine, you don't change yours.
So there's no need to keep on trying.

It better not be the binocular pic — it's the binocular picture. How did I know.

Or that about 837 people have posted it here as proof that George W. Bush is a nincompoop . . . this week alone.

HONOLULU — The military successfully launched and shot down a dummy ballistic missile during its ascent Thursday, the first in a series testing the Pentagon's plans to shield America from short- and medium-range missiles.

The missile was launched at 2:30 p.m. from the Navy's Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands toward the Pacific Ocean and was intercepted within four minutes on the ascent by another missile launched from the cruiser USS Lake Erie, the Department of Defense said.

"It's a major milestone," said Chris Taylor, spokesman for the military's Missile Defense Agency.

Taylor said it was the first time in the history of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense program that a missile had been intercepted on the rise.

The missile was intercepted 500,000 feet above sea level. The Lake Erie had about 80 seconds to identify the threat and launch an intercepting missile, Taylor said.

The test was conducted by the Navy and the Missile Defense Agency. It was the first of six flight tests to develop an emergency deployment sea-based ballistic missile defense against short- to medium-range ballistic missiles, the Pentagon said.

It was the third consecutive target intercept flight.

In June, a dummy missile launched at the same Navy base was struck down by an interceptor missile fired from some 200 miles out at sea in an exercise to show that a rocket guided by a warship's radar system can knock down a medium- or long-range missile under controlled conditions. A January exercise to test the guidance, navigation and control systems also resulted in a missile being shot down.

The success of the June test accelerated the flight-testing objectives of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense, the Pentagon said.

U.S. Captures Al Qaeda's Persian Gulf Chief
Friday, November 22, 2002

WASHINGTON — The U.S. has captured the Al Qaeda terror network's chief of operations in the Persian Gulf, senior government officials said Thursday.

Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, a suspected mastermind of the USS Cole bombing in October 2000, was taken in an undisclosed foreign country during the last several weeks. The Saudi is now in U.S. custody, U.S. government officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Senior U.S. officials told Fox News al-Nashiri has been in custody for 13 days.

Al-Nashiri was held briefly in Afghanistan before being flown to an undisclosed location, sources said. He had last been reported in Yemen

Let's add the one blown up, the others arrested, Osama likely dead and I'd say we're doing pretty well on that front too. Doesn't seem to be a lot of confusion...

Only in London it would seem...

Hey that's cool. They shot down a bit of plastic which they knew was there, when it was going up and which trajectory it was on...

Neat. So next year with the extra $7.4 billion they might actually hit one, coming down on an unknown trajectory...

Meanwhile poor old American citizens may be blown to smithereens because George goes for the big theatricals and can't be bothered to fund Home Security...

Priorities? Who says he hasn't got priorities?...

Anyway where would you expect short and medium range missiles to be fired from? Canada? Mexico? The Bahamas? Bermuda?...

If it's such a joke, such a loser technology, then why are the Russians and Chinese pursuing it and why does Taiwan want it so badly? :D

Who says they are? But I'd hazard a guess and say they're just keeping themselves informed...

They'd be shit countries if they didn't keep up with what the US is trying to do...

Waste of time or not...
