"Force is next resort, Bush tells Pyongyang

The Guardian

President George Bush gave notice yesterday that the US will resort to military force against North Korea if diplomacy fails to stop it building a substantial nuclear arsenal.
He told US newspapers that his administration would maintain its efforts to prevent North Korea building a nuclear arsenal, adding: "If they don't work diplomatically, they'll have to work militarily."

Soon America will be so stretched out like a rubber band, she'll snap like one...

Pax Americana.....

Isn't it interesting that the NK's are only throwing rocks at our windows? Where's the UN now?
Typically, they hide behind Lord Chamberlain's statue, when faced with a direct confrontation.
If the weak won't act, we will. Your handwringing will be noted in history, and your successors will know the shame of your inaction.

Chambertlain was no wuss..

He did everything he could to avoid conflict...exactly what Bush should be doing now...

But when all else failed he declared war on Germany.

Crazy Bush just goes straight in not really worrying about peoples' lives, he couldn't care a fuck how many end up dead in the desert or in the streets of Baghdad, he's got one thing on his mind and one thing only his bank balance...

:p

That was two days after Germany had invaded Poland.

Although about six hours ahead of France's declaration, if I remember correctly.

So, by your WWII analogy, the time for war will have arrived when Saddam Hussein launches a nuclear missle at Jerusalem or Berlin? Just trying to follow your "logic" here...

As he doesn't have a nuclear weapon it would be a bit difficult.

We don't have to follow history we have learn from it. Despite all the references to Chamberlain and to appeasement nobody seems to want to remember that it was a great war leader (Churchill) who said that it was better to jaw,jaw than to war, war!

Waiting until he does have one would make such an event difficult to prevent.

But it could be an Anthrax-tipped al-Samoud dropped into downtown Tel Aviv, if you prefer. That's sidestepping the point, which is that the WWII analogy, applied to this case, would require Saddam Hussein to commit some aggression before force were used against him.

That seemed to be what p_p_man was proposing, since he was using that analogy.

It was what he appeared to be proposing but it is an interesting point. How do you decide who is dangerous enough to attack without them having atttacked anyone else?

They have 'weapons of mass destruction'? That covers most of the developed world and some of the others.

They have ruthless dictators? Hell, then there is Cuba, North Korea, China etc, etc.

They brutalise their own people? See question above.

They ignore UN resolutions? Israel, Palestine and others.

They invade others territory? China and others.

Who do you pick?

Fuck you, you dirty rotten liar! I'm part Czech & Slovak remember? The fucking cowardly appeasers at the UN (or League of Nations as it was known then) let Hitler's tanks roll in to annex it without so much as a peep in protest! And let's not forget Italy’s brutal war and chemical weapons use against the black Ethiopians in their campaign of Colonial aggression!!!! You attempt at historical revisionism and nationalistic propaganda is sickening, Chamberlain was a monster for his inaction.

You really shouldn't post when your mind is missing.

Whilst you may not agree with the action taken by Chamberlain, calling p_p a liar is not good debating technique.

It is a fact that Chamberlain did what he thought was best, right or wrong. It is a fact that he declared war, at the right or wrong time.

Bush Out?

I have read NOTHING about George Bush coming out. This is total BULLSHIT and a major fabrication.

However, having the opportunity to share the private showers in the White House with Dick Cheney, well frankly I would NOT blame George for expanding his horizons. As the Vice President of one of the most powerful nations in the history of mankind that Cheney is a TOTAL VIXEN. Let's face it, the man's lips might say "..proliferation..." or "mass destruction" but to me they say, "Come on, Big Boy, show me what you got!"

Who could resist Cheney's obvious experience in all things of a sexual nature? George is only a man, not a machine. Leave him be to discover that side of himself.

Good questions.

Back to this WWII analogy, why was the US involved in a war in Europe? Germany posed no credible threat to the United States. Now, most Europeans seem to agree that US intervention in the conflict was a good idea — but in view of your questions, how could it have been justified?

In exactly the same way that there is justification for Iraq; but there is also justification of the same nature for many other countries - why pick Iraq?
