These are dreams in which your private parts become mutilated, either through violent acts, disease, or just plain wierdness. Am I the only person in the world that has these types of dreams? Do women have these dreams or just men? And for you dream analyst out there - WHAT DO THEY MEAN?

And yes - I'm posting this just before I head off to bed, so I very well might have another "genital mutilation dream." Good night all!

Hmmmmmmmm.....

How strange, I've never had a dream like that. My ex-wife often threatened, but I never dreamt about it!;)

Sorry no

Sorry ...but I've never had that dream, but I'll bet John Wayne Bobbit did right before he lost his.......Ouch

Not me--I'm alright, Jack

All roses have thorns, my friend...this does not mean that my pussy visits the dentist!

Rose,

The new av reminded me of that old west saloon sign: "Liquor up front, poker in the rear."

Oh Black Bird, I am sorry for not addressing your question. I have never had a dream like that before. I wish I knew what to tell you. I did have a rather discomforting dream about breastfeeding once. Would you like to trade?

Where's Freud when you need him?

well, here is a freudian take on it, but no one takes freud seriously these days and i'm still only an undergrad :) Freud had a very complex theory of osychosexual development. if you want more detail let me know, but this is the gist of it:

the young male has castration anxiety. he subconciously believes that his father will castrate him if he does not repress his oedipal complex. the young male cannot live out the complex in reality, but he finds that he can do so vicariously by immitating his father's sexuality. thus he finds the sexual role that society has deemed proper, he resolves his oedipal complex and everything is a-ok.
your dreams would indicate that you haven't fully resolved the complex and still have such fears.

okay so the freud stuff is likely a lot of crap. here is another take, a more jungian dream analysis. the best analogy i can come up with for this school of thought is that a dream is like a surrealist painting of your subconcious. so...

what does the genitilia represent in your dream? sexuality, virality, strength, masculinity? whatever it is, that part of you is being threatened/attacked. you are afraid, on some level, that you will be defeated... that your masculinity/sexuality/whatever will not recover from whatever is attacking it.

does this make any sense? probably not... sorry if i've confused you...

The Fruedian version, uh, no... Why is it that Frued always made things out to be more complicated then they needed to be? I never got that. He had some great theories, but always went the long way around when it came to dreams...

Jung's version seems closer to what I'd expect - it makes more sense.

Thank you.

well i'm probably not explaining the freud very well. i have a hard time buying the oedipal/electra complexes and that kinda blows a huge chunk of his theory out of the water

They say that in a dream, you play all of the parts. That has brought some peace to me.

So when I dream that people are sticking needles in my eyes, hitting me in the face with hammers, and hanging me up on meathooks... it really should be viewed that I am doing those things to myself.

Dreams are a release of frustration, and nightmares. They build up adrenalin and release it, to reduce stress. My guess is that dreams of genital mutilation would mean sexual frustration of some sort, or a feeling of inadequacy.

But I'm not a psychiatrist. Just a girl with weird dreams, who has made peace with them.

Aye

Same as I said, just in more words. Thanks MissVictoria

We all need to dream, it is a release of things on our mind, even deep subconscious things.

I find my dreams of complete strangers the weirdest, but it means I am looking for someone and have not found them yet.

Strange how clear the person is, so detailed, different each time of course.
Oh well, maybe one day I will find that person.

Dreams are the release.

It means you must spend more time on Lit. All waking hours must be spent on Lit or you will continue to have these dreams.

This meaningless post brought to you by, John has a long mustache.
