While I am not that old yet, the first Generation X'ers are now reaching 50. Many of the rest of us are well into our 40s. We are at or past the mid-point of our lives.

Yet, as we approach this generational milestone, is Generation X even a coherent cultural group anymore? What is generation X culture as adults and middle age people? Do we stand for anything, do we have any distinct cultural attributes anymore, what are we today, where are we going, and do we even exist in a cultural sense anymore?

Has all the promise of us changing the culture and the world been completely lost because we are sandwiched between the larger Baby Boomers and Millenials and Gen Z'ers? Have we even changed anything at all?

Looking back up the hill on the downward slide from cradle to grave, I have this bit of knowledge for you.

No generation changes anything. The world goes as it will and no one can alter the course of destiny.
