Curious if anyone else here enjoys genealogy research.

Yeah, I know this is't about sex, but what the heck... we possess many different interests here.

Maybe we can share ideas and thought here, or links that might help each other with research.

Everyone is welcome...

My father and I did a lot of research when I was in high school. The state library had a ton of old records we could look at. We were able to trace our family back to the Mayflower.

Here is the one link that I find invaluable in doing research for family members.

Just don't be initimidated by the site.

bumping this interesting thread up. I hope it was okay to do Arden.:)

Hans Seybold (1680 - ?) is the earliest we got. He was apparently a cobbler (schumacher) before he joined the army to fight in the Thirty Years War. After the war he became a vingartner and changed his last name to the Seybold as you see now. The last name has gone a lot of changes and there are literally hundreds of variations of this last name. Apparently the root of the last name is the Seubl, which was a tribe in the North Alps region. This tribe's name was the root of such words and last names: Swabia (Schwabein), Seabolt, Siebold, Seibold, Ziebolt, Ziebold, Zeibolt, Zeibold, Subold, Subel, etc...

On another side, we have our family traced to the Mayflower. This line actually has a president of the united states, William Henry Harrison.

Another side has our family traced to the Battle of Lunenburg and the Battle of Quebec during the Seven Years War. This is the family of the Frasers.

I am Irish, Russian, German, Romanian, Scottish, Welsh, English, Dutch. I also may have French (Frankish), Teutonic, Cornish and Flemish lineages too.
