So... this is kinda random...

Based on my stories... why does everyone think that I'm female?

I get messages on here all the time, PMs from people who want to RP with a woman. I haven't put my gender up on my profile, but I was wondering why people think that I'm a chick... Not gonna put it up anytime soon because I LIKE people not knowing- plus... I dunno, haven't really figured the whole gender thing out completely, but I was just wondering,

What is it about my writing that comes off as so feminine?

I picked that name because my nickname to some of my friends is "CandyCum" because apparently, according to a chick who gave me a BJ at a very crowded party, my cum tastes sweet. It impressed her so much that she thought she had to tell everyone about it, so my friends started to call me CandyCum to tease me. But there was already a CandyCum registered so I changed it to candicame.

I have to go with those who thought your name or nickname was "Candi" or "Candy," which is pretty much female. And plenty of women write gay male stories.

heh, maybe I should just go with it from now on. ;)

Lots of people have androgynous or sex-neutral or whatever user names. And plenty have names, or write stories, that would lead a reader to think they're the opposite gender than they are. It's not a problem, really. But I'd say if you wanted people to know that you're male, you should make it clear on your profile, at least. And there's always the idea of getting a new username.

Maybe in addition to your name you have a "feminine" writing style. There's some sort of online program that "measures" whether the writing style is more masculine or feminine.

Ditto what everyone else said, it's your name. If you want to go gender neutral, change the name.

I think it's mainly that a majority of those sending messages out of the blue from Lit. hope they're connecting with a female.

That's pretty cool- I'd like to look at that program because I've had a LOT of people in RL tell me that I talk like a girl. I have no idea why. Yet I had really bad handwriting... But that's always messed with me. I think it's because I use a lot of LEET speak and country euphemisms... But I usually do that because I'm making fun of people... But I don't think that anyone knows that I'm making fun of them.

Like, I talk like a valley girl ALL THE TIME. I say "like" quite a bit. And I say stuff like, "Oh, my god!" a lot...

To much animie when I was a kid... I wanted to be James from Team Rocket waaaay to bad. And my parents wouldn't let me dye my hair purple.

Because, you know, that would be gay.

That's why he has the hot redhead.

Candicame?

I thought it said, Candicane. I so need to get these glasses checked.

Welcome to the madhouse. Enjoy.

That program is kind of a crock. It almost always tells me I am a woman, except when it checks a gay male story.

Just stay out of the personals. You'll get your PM box full in no time of wonderfully clever things like "is my little girl looking for her daddy?"

Besides I understand completely! Getting really tired of everyone here assuming I'm a guy.

Says you!

Of course says me. Who else would run one of my stories through the program?

Aha! So you admit to being either a female or a gay male!

Oh, Jomie, you say the sweetest things.

Just doing my job, ma'am. I trust you don't mind me frisking you. Thoroughly, yet honorably, and within the bounds of my duly appointed authority, of course.

With the irony being that most gay male stories are written by women. :D

Yeah... I was reading those "yoai" collections (I can't remember the name, the ones with Trech the Tentacle Monster)- and EVERY story in it was written/drawn by a woman. Thought that was kinda weird. But- hm... opens up all kinds of doors, lol.

Learn something new every day. ;)
