While watching a History Channel show on "gadgets" where people described their fave gadget as a computer, I got to thinking about my fave gadget, and sure enough it was my computer. But then I thought, I have 4 computers (two working - a desktop and a laptop, and two more or less obsolete desktops that need to be put back together).

That got me to thinking that this would be a measure of geekiness, so...

How many computers do you have at home? 4

How many actually boot and work? 2

How many do you use? 2

Aww come on people!

10 views and only 2 votes?!?!?

I know everyone has to have at least one computer to view this!

That is unless you are visiting this porn site from work. If that is the case then you are a naughty girl/boy! ;)

that's it, guilt me into voting. hmph. you aren't catholic by any chance, are you?
;)

Geek factor 2!

Merely 2 here...my Winblowz box for gaming and graphics, and my RedHat box for dialup/firewall.

You know what I love about geeks? They actually really *do* get turned on by girls saying things like "linux" "open source" and "Beowulf cluster"...I think I could make millions if I recorded those phrases in some phone-sex voice...hehe!

*luvs on all the geeks out there*

only if your geekyness is measured by the number of computers you have. i'm a geek. but even more, i love geeks. if there was such a thing as a geek fetish i would have it.
i want thinkgeek.com to make a t-shirt that says "i  geeks"

I wouldn't wear that shirt unless you wanted to be surrounded by geeks all the time and have them follow you home, or you were into gang-bangs! ;)

:D would it work if i just scawled that in magic marker on a white t-shirt? :p

Well, we have two running computers in our home...
And one that's sitting on the dining room table, all disabled.

I voted two though, because I'm a big dork.

This would depend on what you're willing to call a personal computer. I still have my ancient Sinclair spectrum, most decent calculators now outpower this. Not that I do anything with it. And my Commodore Amiga, that's gathering dust too.

PC type machines I have one and a half. I cannibalised the old one to build the new. Obviously the old one doesn't work.

Geek Factor 5+!

*swoons* Oh, Mae... you just revealed yet another seriously sexy side of you... how sexy can one woman be? :)

I voted five, even though I really have six if you count the Tandy 1000 EX gathering dust in the garage. It still works, too.

I have the computer I am using right now, which is a tri-boot setup, (Windows 98/2k, Linux 2.4, FreeBSD 4.4) and I have two computers (one Linux 2.2, one without a HD) that are mostly complete but are missing one or two things (monitors, mainly), and an laptop (MS-DOS 6.22) that still works, but has a broken screen.

The fifth computer (Windows 98) is in the kitchen. It's not mine. But I have to keep it running, so it might as well be.

Believe it or not, I had more but sold a few off...

Oh Baby...tell me more about segfaults. Mmmm......:)

A little hint..they get even more turned on watching you eat noodles while doing it. ;)

I'm only up to two my Windows box I use for most everything, and a Debian Potato box (running smoothly on a 486, mind you!) I've been piddling around with, getting the hang of Linux.

So two...unless you consider the boxes I have in the closet, you know, just in case I need them. They're not much..only a 386 and a 486 I might use if I set up a server. It's not like I'm checking out using the 386 as an mp3 jukebox. I haven't bought extra memory for it! I haven't!

I'm not that big a geek! I'm not!

I'm not that big a geek! I'm not!

Dammit, I KNEW I shoulda used more tongue eating those noodles! You know...it was a bad idea to eat all that great food there. Coming back here has been SO amazingly...bland :(

Ah well, that leaves you over there all Thai'd up and no one to have fun with! (Ooooh, I am *sorry* about that horrendous pun, but it had to be said, you know that, don't you??)

Oooh, and while we're at it....TWITTERPATED!!! :D Ok, ok, I'll stop, I promise!

And yes hun, you ARE a big geek. But...that's not a bad thing in MaeWorld! *hugs*

Don't get flipped off too much in the ghetto...will have to start playing whack-a-mole then....

Gods you make me laugh :)

I dunno Rex...did you read B_B's post? I purr too!! Especially if you scratch me in the right places! :D

Had BSD (I *love* that little daemon!) when I had the "big" home network (before the computers left in custody of the ex, heh. They *were* his, so I guess it was fair, lol). Running RedHat 7.2 now. Learning it bit by bit, thank the gods for my geekfriends! Lifesavers, all of them! Of course, all Linux geeks are happy to help someone over from the "dark m$ side" and all...I am a proud convert. Probably wouldn't use Windows at all if it wasn't for my gaming. Those companies need to get with it!!

OK, enough geekdom for tonight!
*hugs and bytes*

I am uber-geek!!!

In my defense, I only use three of the seven functioning computers in my home.

Okay, that isn't much of a defense.

Geek me up. :p

I like BSD most, but I use Linux. Mostly because Linux Mandrake makes my computer run without having to fix it all the time (Windows) and I am liking not having to muck with the OS guts for a while. I can *never* get anything to compile right under Linux. BTW, I run Mandrake 8.1.

FreeBSD is fun to work with, and things actually compile for me! But I don't know enough yet to make it do what I want all the time without going crazy. It took me a year to switch from Windows to Linux, so...

I like *BSD because it is, as far as I can tell, the BEST operating system. I like Mandrake because it's easy to use and it works.

You and I are turning out to be eerily alike, Mae. I am liking this! :) Come over and let me purr you. *scritches you*

:p

Letting my Geek flag fly!

Behind my piles of rusty cars, leather scraps and countless empty alcoholic beverages there lies a geek. A very wel camoflaged geek, mind you...but a geek none the less.

And now, back to stealth Geek mode...

About a year ago I got it to boot to MS-DOS v2.1!

I've got 6, not counting the old Pentium 133 I have sitting in my basement. And I have a friend who is trying to get me a Mac for free. At one point I did have 9...

I'm not a geek

but I feel like one. I'm surrounded by computers in my home. We have 3 desktops (one for each adult) all hooked up to a home network run on it's own server (making 4). We have parts to build 2 or 3 additional desktops and have 2 lap tops.

It's been slow going but I've been learning a lot about them as we upgrade and re-build. LOL

2 desktops 1 laptop at home (1 windaz 98 1 windaz 2000 and 1 XP)

I think that's pretty geeky considering I live alone!

Wow! Someone has 8 computers! Twice as geeky as I am!

I have geek envy!

I think I might be able to dig up another laptop somewhere; and old 20 mHz 386 with a mono screen, but I am not sure if I gave it to someone or not.
