Someone tell me why Adobe Acrobat and iTunes need to be updated on a weekly basis?????

Foxit for PDFs.

Gtkpod for managing your I-Pod. If you're just using I-tunes to play music, Foobar.

My Favorite Tip Right Now

Use Windows 7? Ever have your computer reboot itself after an update, closing every program without saving stuff and totally screwing up hours of work?

Do this:
  • Click Start -> Run
  • Enter “gpedit.msc”
  • Go to Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update
  • Double-click on “No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Update installation”
  • Enable it!
  • Reboot the computer

Windows will then never ever ever start closing programs and restarting without your permission again.

Last time someone told me to futz with regedit, my computer wouldn't boot up. I had to rip out the HDD, transfer what I needed to another computer and then re-install the OS. Took me about a week to get it working again.

You wouldn't do that to me, would you?

I use iTunes a lot, for podcasts, managing my iPod and general music-playing and collection-keeping.

I'll look into Foxit. Thanks.

Nope, just make sure to backup your registry. I've done that on plenty of Windows 7 machines and never had a problem.

Though what she posted is for Windows Updates, and not for software outside the core OS.

If I were you, I'd look into alternatives to I-Tunes, personally. There is much better software out there that is freeware to handle all the things you want to do. I-Tunes has quickly become a very heavy resource piece of software, and the bugs with each new update give me headaches.

That's my two tech nerd cents.

How does one back up one's registry?

Follow up: how does one re-install one's backed up registry?

I'm ashamed to tell you of the countless number of hours I've spent cleaning up my ~150GB of music on iTunes. I'd have to hurt someone if I moved it all and to start the clean-up process all over again.

Yesterday and every day before I had a profile picture on here. Now I just have an avatar and no profile pic. Why?

Given that you can't have an avatar before accumulating 100 posts, I find this very puzzling as well.

I like this picture better. lol

But it still doesn't explain why my profile pic adder/editor is gone.
