GB temptation fail

Is it possible to block the GB so I never get tempted to wade in? So far I've tried masking tape over that part of the monitor. Hypnotherapy? Up their meds? Can the powers-that-be offer an alternative universe type thing minus the GB?
Trouble when I see BS, I find it difficult to walk by

I actually agree. The GB is too much troll, the Playground is well.... it's the Playground, and there seems to be no happy medium on Lit.

That's why I stick around the Personals. It's not even a great place to be but my threads aren't flooded out as soon as I post them and also I'm not trolled too hard.

Two things I want:
1. Meaningful posting
2. Not too troll-ish

Then again, this is Lit. I have been here long enough to know the deal.

Thanks mrron - I hadn't appreciated the gravity of my situation, but you're right, I need to acknowledge first, plan second and action third.
Is it normal to feel, like dirty all the time? I keep washing my hands and using way more eyeliner than normal and been wearing nothing but black.

I blocked almost everyone from the general board, even people I never interacted with. I think I posted there once or twice, but I couldn't get over how fucking vile 90% of those people are. I'm tempted to go there sometimes, but then I just remind myself of how angry I'll get if I do. That helps.

I actually preferred the GB before it was split, only because I appreciated some of the thoughtful discussions that would take place. Admittedly, it took some practice to weed through clutter.. but I find that everywhere.

I'm also amused. I find this whole GB vs PG thing a little funny -

I don't see the big differences between the GB and the PG, and find it a little funny when regular posters from their respective forums define themselves as not being the other.

Both have some good, solid posters, and both have posters that, if you are not able to just see your way around, are what the ignore feature is for.

Both have cliques, nonsense threads, regular displays of schadenfreude (though one does this a bit more in your face), and some quality threads came be found in both.

One has tighter moderation (and more cat hair) which is a good argument for either forum, depending on what you are looking for, but neither forum should be engaged without doing some exploring and reading around first, or if you take things too seriously.

It is hard not to wade in the gb at times. I've blocked a lot of gb'ers so I don't have to see their threads, especially the ones referring to women as cunts and blacks as niggs.

I get the bit about the "characters" but the constant foul language is tedious. I often see references to people not taking their meds and truly, the place is like a home for senile dementia.

There are a few incorrigible dumbfucks that deserve to be ignored. Luckily, they stay on their own threads most of the time. Once you get used to the background noises, it gets much easier.

My mother used to quote a British comedian who sang a childish song "In the garden, in the nude, pee, po, belly, bum, drawers" which were all banned words in his house when he was little.
