I have been watching the debate about Gay Marriage play out in the national media for the past few months...watched how the courts and the legislatures of several states, including Massachusetts and California, are going back and forth over the rights of Gays in American society.
Having heard the opposing viewpoints from the talking-heads on the news, I wanted to get the opinions of people here on Lit.
So I put it to all of you: Should Gay Marriage be legalized in the United States, affording all gay couples the same rights, benefits, and status as heterosexual couples; Or should there be a Constitutional Amendment banning Gay Marriage and establishing that only marriage between a man and a woman is sanctioned by the Federal government?
Let us all know what you are thinking...and try and remain civil...I know passions run deep about this subject, but I think this should be a lively and courteous debate.
