I read up about it before and after purchase.

You won't need to be completely soft to get it off but you do need to be not fully hard either, he will be VERY hard once he has it on..sometimes it's difficult to get on without getting hard

Update!

Thought I'd give a quick update. I took the plunge and used the gates last night on him. Super hot!
