Gas Prices

Interesting!

I bought gas yesterday for $1.59 a gallon, same station this morning is at $1.78. Did the gas buried in their underground tanks suddenly cost them more?

No, but they need to preserve as much as they can, because it will cost more to buy more for them. So, prices go up, much like in supply and demand situations. If there is more demand, then prices go up. Those willing to pay for it, do. Those not willing, won't. If there were more supply then demand, the prices would lower, trying to seel it off.

Right now, no one knows what is going to happen. The gas stations are trying to accomadate as best they can, and if I were you, I would feel lucky that it is only $1.78, rather then the 3,4, and 5 it is other places.

Many people are 'preparing' for a worse case scenario, I think, because it has been openly speculted in Congressional meetings that this is most likely not the end of it. If it is, then we are fine, if not...... We are all Boy Scouts at Heart here in the States.....

Our motto is now going to be.... Be Prepared.

Is this really something to complain about right now?

Consider it grief tax...

I think it is. Yes there is a great tragedy that surpasses anything..... but this is just a way for franchises to make money..

all the major gas companies agreed not to increase the cost... saying that the country is in no danger of a shortage..... and yet the franchises(locally run and operated stations) are the ones increasing the charge. Just another way some people are looking for a quick buck..

and yes it pisses me off. It irritates me that some people care only about money when there is something so horrible happening.....

Hey guys, I'm down here in San Antonio and hubby says the gas prices are totally normal. <which means about 1.39 a gallon>. I believe that there is a law in the US that in times of crisises there can be no price gouging but I'm not sure

On my way to the country yesterday, I passed the same gas station I pass each day going to work.

$1.41 per gallon

On the way home...4 hours later....

$3.09

I just added that store to my lists of businesses I will never ever spend a dime in again.

I urge anyone that has seen their local merchants use this act of horror to gain material wealth and take advantage of the citizens of this country to add them to their own personal lists of places they will never spend another cent of American Currency.

Fuck them all, and classify them as the scum they are. They might as well just put on a badge saying they support future terroristic acts in this country. They are actually worse than the terrorists who have never actually felt the benefits of what it is like to live in a country as Grand as ours.

Why are gas prices normal??

because last night on the late night news.....

it was said that price gouging is illegal and will punished to the full extent of the law....

*I couldn't sleep ;) *

a little bit of good news.

Some places are still $3.00 or so..... but they are supposed to go down.

Sad, too sad.

I'm in Mid-Michigan. Prices in Detroit are insane. On my way home from there yesterday there was a station that only had premium left and it was going at over $6 a gal. Where I live it is *only* at $3 a gal. But that's all the stations anywhere near us.

I am also in Mid-Michigan, and it is only 1.89 as of this morning. But then, we were smart enough to have ordered all stations closed last night, as well.

Gas never went up to high here. Although at least 2 stations ran out. One ran out last night, but has gas now and the other just ran out this afternoon. Still $1.39 is the cheapest (and what I paid) and the most I saw was $1.59 (for regular)

In Kansas, the state attorney general plans to prosecute for price gouging. No evidence has come out that the wholesale cost of fuel or that there was a shortage.

No price changes here at all.

I have a friend that is the head of sales in a company that distributes gas to local convenience stores. He says that as of yet the increase in gas prices are all speculative. Of course, if someone can see a way to make more money....they'll do it. Isn't that the American way?

So far, nothing major here. A few places have run out of gas due to the rumor of price increase.

Well, news just came to me here in my rinky dink little college town. Gas stations are starting to run out.

My hubby stopped after work to get some pop, and a lady coming out asked him what you call a gas station with out gas. He chuckled, and said it must be a pop station now.

This won't last, and it hurts now, but it will be over soon.

In my area, gas prices are still stable. The Attorney General & the Governor of Texas have promised to prosecute any businesses that engage in price gouging. There are 2 hotlines set up in Texas to handle consumer complaints. I am keeping my eyes open & a notebook in my car. If I see any gas stations or any other businesses start to jack the prices up, I will definitely report them & will never do business there again.

I read in the paper that AZ is going to be reasonable and keep them where they are.

are they up where you are???

from what I was told... its going to be $6.00 a gallon by midnight

Some areas sky rocketed, but for the most part the high gas prices were rumor. Throughout the whole city of Omaha, there was a fixed price of $1.69/gal. (First time in a long time the whole city had a fixed price.) And, that "jump" came from $1.67/gal last night.

FYI to anyone who cares.

Just got gas after coming home tonight.

Gas was $1.36, was $1.38 before I left, go figure!?!?!?!?!?!?
