Looks like this one is about to get messy.

In a letter, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said her office has reason to believe "that the State of Georgia's administration of elections in 2020, including the State's election of the President of the United States, was subject to possible criminal disruptions."

A special grand jury allows the DA to issue subpoenas. In the letter, Willis says several witnesses or potential witnesses — including Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger — "have refused to cooperate with the investigation absent a subpoena requiring their testimony."

Oh this is gonna get even better. Giuliani led the effort to replace electors with fake electors that would vote for Trump in seven states. Guess who sat in daily meetings during the planning phases?

.
Bu..bu..but....CRT!!!

Don't worry about republican voter suppression and an outright atempted coup, in addition to their laying of the groundwork for a future election coup.

JFC

SAD!!!

*sniff* But all he did was ask the SoS to find 11,780 votes! What's wrong with that?

Giuliani has now been subpoenaed by the 1/6 committee. Interesting times.

Should have happened last spring and he should have been indicted months ago. I can't understand what's taking so long.

They are doing a proper investigation...not just indicting based on a recording of a phone call and a CNN article.

Homicide investigations don't take this long and they're a whole lot more complex.

I would prefer they take their time - hurrying the details just leads to mistakes. You're talking about actions taken during a Presidency.

Impatience is not helpful.

so trump wants the jury's findings squashed and expunged from records, Fani Willis off his back, and the judge overseeing the grand jury also swapped out. doesn't want much, does he?
Trump's Georgia legal team in March asked the court to toss out the report of a special grand jury that had been seated in the case and to prevent prosecutors from using any evidence or testimony stemming from the panel’s investigation. They also asked that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her office be barred from continuing to investigate or prosecute the case.

Willis responded in a filing Monday that the Trump's motion is “procedurally flawed” and advances “arguments that lack merit.”
Willis wrote that the arguments put forth in the motions fail to meet the “exacting standards" for disqualifying a prosecutor and they also fail to prove their claims that their own due process rights have been violated or that the grand jury process was “tainted” or the law governing it unconstitutional.
Willis has requested trump's demands be tossed without a hearing, and there's this:
A coalition of news organizations, including The Associated Press, also filed a motion Monday objecting to Trump’s request that the special grand jury report be “quashed and expunged from the record.”

“Not only is such a remedy unsupported by any legal basis, it would also be starkly at odds with the fundamental principles of this Nation and State,” the media lawyers argued. “The Report is a matter of the utmost public concern, and it should be released to the public in its entirety.”
of course, team trump will ask for time to appeal: delay, delay, delay

team trump desperately files (again) to get Fanni Willis kicked off and the results of a special grand jury quashed:

Trump's Georgia legal team on Friday filed similar petitions in the Georgia Supreme Court and Fulton County Superior Court naming Willis and Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney, who oversaw the special grand jury, as respondents. A spokesperson for Willis declined to comment. McBurney did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

Trump’s legal team — Drew Findling, Jennifer Little and Marissa Goldberg — acknowledged that the filings are unusual but necessary given the tight time frame. Willis has indicated she will use the special grand jury report to seek an indictment “within weeks, if not days.” Two new regular grand juries were seated this week, and one is likely to hear the case.
